Every summer Carol travels a lot by herself and visits new places. Last August she had a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} vacation, so she was on a tour of four countries in Europe. Europe was beautiful but her vacation wasn't very nice. She was in each country only for three days. She visited too many museums and was always {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. After her vacation she was tired and bored. This summer she is going to spend her vacation in a   {#blank#}3{#/blank#} way. She is going to travel to one country in Asia with friends and visit only one city. They will stay there for seven days and they are going to choose a city near the sea {#blank#}4{#/blank#} they can go swimming and have picnics on the beach. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a happy journey it must be!

    Skin-diving （轻装潜水）is a new sport today. Many people show interest in this sport. Some go under water to see beautiful scenes(景色).{#blank#}1{#/blank#}go down into deep(深的) water to take pictures of swimming fish. It is not dark under water and there are a lot of big or little fish living there. Some of them use the sand to {#blank#}2{#/blank#}their homes. If you are under water, you will find you are just in a fish village.

    There is no wind under water.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} is blue and green. During the day, there is much light. Sometimes people do not have to use a flash(闪关灯)to take {#blank#}4{#/blank#}under water.

    This sport takes you into a wonderful new world. When you are under water,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} is easy for you to carry a big stone(石头). It is{#blank#}6{#/blank#}a trip to the moon!

    Catching fish is one of the most {#blank#}7{#/blank#} parts of this sport. When fish swim nearby, you can catch them{#blank#}8{#/blank#} your hands.

    Mark lived in a village far away. One day he became very ill and everyone thought he would 1 soon. They sent for a doctor. Two days 2 the doctor came and looked over the sick man.3 asked for a pen and some paper to write down the name of the medicine. But there was no pen 4 paper in the village, because no one could write.

    The doctor 5 up a piece of burnt wood from the fire and wrote the name of the medicine on the 6 of the house. “ Get this medicine for him, and he will get 7 soon. ” he said.  Mark's family and friends did not know8 to do. They could not read the strange words. Then a young man 9an idea. He took off the door of the house, put it on his carriage(马车) and drove to the nearest 10. He bought the medicine there, and Mark was soon well again.

    It's six thirty in the evening. It's time for us {#blank#}1{#/blank#} dinner. There is lots of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} on the table. My father likes all {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of vegetables and rice. My mother likes fish and noodles. My sister Ann's {#blank#}4{#/blank#} are chicken and bread. I like beef, mutton and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. After dinner my sister and I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} some fruit. And my parents usually drink {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.They like orange juice very much. Then my mother likes taking a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} with our dog, and my father likes reading {#blank#}9{#/blank#}.Sometimes he watches TV. My sister and I usually do {#blank#}10{#/blank#} homework.

    How do you feel when you have to make a speech in front of class? What about when you go to a birthday party? Do you get really shy?

    Shyness means feeling nervous or frightened when you're around other people. Experts （专家） {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(find)that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the center of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences.

    It's OK if it takes you a while {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( feel )yourself again when you go to a new place or meet new people. In fact, everybody {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(get) a little shy sometimes. It's just a case of how much.

    Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they get shy. But some become so shy that they{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (not go) to a restaurant because they are too nervous {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( order） and pay the bill（账单）. Some are afraid of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（meet） new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.

    If shyness doesn't stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn't a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are quieter and cleverer because they think more and talk less. Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. Some great people in history {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be)shy, too.

    You see, being shy isn't all bad. But remember not to let good chances pass by just because of it! If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practice your spoken English in front of others, just do it! There's nothing to be afraid of.
