This morning I got an e-mail from Roy. It seems that my boy really enjoys his new life at Harvard University.  The 1 made me think of the first day when we moved into this house.

    Little Roy ran around the new house with great excitement and tried to move his own things into the house such as his toys, books and clothes. 2 , his little hand knocked over（打翻）a bottle of paint on the shelf. The paint made the tidy floor and white wall a terrible mess . “Oh, my God!” My wife rushed in angrily. I looked at my son, and his small face was filled with 3 .

    I 4 and held his hand, “Take it easy, Roy. Now let's do something to make it look  5 .” I took out a 6. “You see, Dad is a magician（魔术师）, I can change it into a big tree.” 

    His mother soon helped paint some butterflies and flowers on the wall.

    We spent the whole afternoon 7and laughing. The wall became a beautiful forest with plants, birds and small animals. Blue sky and white clouds were also painted by Roy. On that day, everybody in the house knew  8 special happened. 

    The night before Roy left for Harvard, he asked me if I still remembered the day when he had knocked over the paint. “Since then I've  9worried about making mistakes,” he continued, “I believe I can always 10ways to solve the problems.”

    I was walking along a busy road when I noticed a young man standing near the crossing selling toys.1 I would hurry past such sellers. But I found this young man was 2 so I stood for some time without crossing the street. I wanted to see how he sold his things.

    Soon, a young mother with a little girl came by and the child set 3eyes on one of teddy bears. The mother asked for the4 and it was only one dollar. She 5 out a 10-dollar note from her handbag and told the young man that she was giving him 10 dollars and wanted the6 back. I was wondering how he was going to do it. He told the young mother to put the money in the bag 7 around his neck and take out her change.

    I realized that this young man depended on believing people not to cheat him. There was no way for him to know 8 someone would take out more than they should have. I was so 9 I bought a car model from him that I did not need. As I walked down the street, I gave the car model to a kid walking with his father.

    I kept thinking that the world would be a better place if we could all learn to 10 others more, like the young blind street seller.

    Alan and Jack are friends. They wanted to make sure that the birds outside on the ice were ducks or geese(鹅). So 1 a cold January evening last year, the two boys walked onto the frozen(结冰的)river near their homes to get a better look. They2 a rock onto the ice to test it. They thought the ice could hold their 3. Then they stepped(踩；踏)on it. But when Jack took4 steps, he fell through the frozen surface suddenly.

    Alan ran to help his friend. He tried to 5 Jack out from the cold water and onto the frozen land. But the ice didn't hold, and he fell in, too.

    Jack's elder sister saw the boys falling through the ice and started shouting for help John, a neighbor 6  nearby on his way to the store, quickly stopped the car 7 he heard the shout. Seeing the boys, he caught a nearby life ring(救生圈), 8  his shoes and jumped into the water. John swam towards Alan and Jack, and took 9  back to land. They were taken to the hospital at once. 10 , they were saved. They were really thankful to their brave neighbor.

The first and most important thing you must do is to make sure the place is not dangerous. Can you see anything that might not be helpful to you? Can you hear anything that could be dangerous?

When you see someone has been hurt, you may feel scared. If you feel yourself starting to be nervous, try to calm yourself down. For example, talk to people you trust about what happened, and you'll be relaxed.

When someone needs first aid, talking to him will help him to stay calm and feel safe. Even if he does not answer you, you should still tell him what you are doing. It will let him know that you are helping him.

Sometimes, the casualty will need more help than you are able to give. The best thing you can do is to phone some people for help. They can give you some useful advice or offer you some help.

There are also many other things to do. Try your best to help the casualty. Asking people around you for help is really better than waiting for doctors. Besides, you can also try to keep in touch with his families and friends.

Good morning! Welcome all {#blank#}1{#/blank#} volunteers! Now I'd like to give you some information about our activity. As we know, we will collect the garbage on the beach. We'll arrive {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in a tour bus at 8:30 a. m.. I advise {#blank#}3{#/blank#} you wear a hat and a T-shirt. A pair of gloves is also needed. You should pay attention to safety. There is a guide {#blank#}4{#/blank#} each team. You can find them according to the colored flags in their hands. The color {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the flag is the same as that of your T-shirt. I believe you will work hard to protect the environment. Thank you very much.
