Every day I can watch a little girl 1 basketball from my kitchen window. One day I asked her why she practised so 2 . She said: “I would like to go to college. The only way is 3  a scholarship(奖学金). I like basketball and I want to be the 4 player in college. My dad told me: ‘If the dream is big enough, the facts don't count.' ” She  5 changed her mind. I watched her through those junior high years and into senior high school.

    One day before she graduated 6 high school, I saw her sitting on the grass 7 . I asked her what was wrong. She told me her coach said she was such a 8 girl that she couldn't be a good basketball player, so she should  9 dreaming about going to college. She was heartbroken and it 10 made me feel sad. Then she smiled and told me her father said that coach was wrong. He did not understand the power of dream. Her father said to her: “If you really want to 11 the scholarship of a good college, nothing but you 12 can stop your dream.”

    The next year, she and her team went to a big game. She 13 by a coach of a famous college team and was offered a scholarship to the 14 basketball team of their college. She was about to get the college education that she had dreamed 15 and worked towards for all those years.

    “If the dream is big enough, the facts don't count.” It is true.

    Jones offered free haircuts to countless homeless men for a year. His1came to him after giving money to a man on the street. He2what else he could do to help. He then decided to 3for people who needed help and offer free haircuts on the street.

     He gives not only help but also good luck. His very first customer even 4a full-time job not long after Jones' service.

     Deeply touched by what Jones did, David, the5of "Taper's Barbershop", decided to give Jones his newly decorated shop, completely free of charge. His goal was to provide Jones with the 6and tools he needed to continue helping others during the winter months.

    David said 'well, this building is sitting here. Do you 7it?'And Jones said yes. David gave Jones the keys and said, 'It's 8now."

    Jones is now able to keep helping the homeless in his new shop,9David. He has devoted Mondays to giving the homeless free haircuts,10 the shop is called "Makeover Mondays". Jones said he would continue helping others, because it could bring him inner peace and happiness.

    Last summer, we had a volunteer activity in a village school. In the school. I saw a name Feng Aiguo on a list. This man offered much money to the school. I thought he must be a1 man.

    One day, on my way home from school, my bike was broken. Luckily I found a repairing stand(修车摊)across from the street. An old man was 2 a bike. He was wearing a clean suit. He looked energetic(精力充沛的). While waiting. I knew 3 about him from the old men chatting there. He was Lao Feng and 4to repair bikes after he repaired(退休). Two months ago, his family moved to a new house. His son didn't want him to repair bikes any longer. He bought him suits and asked him to 5 them and rest at home. But it didn't work. The old man continued his repairing work in his suits.

    After a while, the old man got my bike repaired. 6 I was leaving an old lady came and called him "Aiguo". 7 the name on the list of the village school came into my mind. But how could such a common repairman 8so much money? I asked him if he knew that village. He told me it was his hometown and the 9there still needed help. So he always saved money by repairing bikes to help them. Then I was sure that he was the person on the 10.

    One's education starts from family, especially 1 his or her mother. Here is a story that happened in my childhood.

One Saturday morning, I was watching TV in the living room with my two brothers. My mum 2 several apples of different colors and sizes. She put all the apples on the table, then 3 me and my younger brothers, "Which do you like?" 4 my younger brothers and I wanted the biggest one. 5 I could say "The biggest one", one of my brothers stood up and said what I wanted to say.

    My mum 6 the biggest apple and said to us, "It is 7 to get the biggest apple. Many people want the best thing, but few really get it. Now let's start a 8 . Look at the lawn(草坪) in front of our 9.     Since then, I have learned to try my best to succeed whenever I get a chance. I work 12 to get what I want. That was what my mother advised me to do. I feel very thankful to my mum because she taught me a very basic but the most 13 lesson. It is quite fair that we can get what we want 14 competing. My mother kept teaching us in this way and we followed her 15 all the time.

    I do believe that mother is the first teacher of children, who can teach them to be a No.1 pursuing person.
