Every individual is a member of a group called the community, and it is the duty of every citizen {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ask what he can do for his community. A good citizen {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(相信) that he should serve the community and not the community serve h{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. As students, there are many ways in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} you can serve the community. Above all, however, you have to acquire a certain amount of skill and experience b{#blank#}5{#/blank#} you can be of service to others. Your school has lots of{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(活动) which prepare you {#blank#}7{#/blank#} good citizenship. Many school societies train students to become good citizens who later p{#blank#}8{#/blank#} in volunteer work and serve the public in t{#blank#}9{#/blank#} of need.     Chuck Wall teaches management and human relations at Bakersfield College. He walked into class one day and told his students that their homework was to perform a simple and random act of kindness. Not {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (understand) the homework, the students didn't know what to do. Chuck didn't answer their questions{#blank#}2{#/blank#} he encouraged his students to work it out by themselves.

    One week later, the students entered the classroom and began sharing their stories{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (excited). One reported on helping a poor dog {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(abandon) by its owner. Another student told others about giving blankets away to the homeless. Gradually, more and more students developed the habit of doing such kind acts, from{#blank#}5{#/blank#} they benefited a lot.

    Since then, similar kind acts{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(perform) in schools around the world. Many schools organize a. Random Acts of Kindness Week, around November 13^th{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(celebrate) World Kindness Day. Some schools use each day of Random Acts of Kindness Week to perform a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(differ) kind act, such {#blank#}9{#/blank#}making a new friend, helping someone, doing community service or raising money for a charity. In this way, students learn to consider other people and think about how small actions can make the world a{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (good) place.

    Monkeys do not like it when others get more food {#blank#}1{#/blank#} they do, according to a new study.

    Researchers from Yale and Harvard universities found Capuchin monkeys punish monkeys {#blank#}2{#/blank#} get more food. "This sort of, 'If I can't have it, no one can' response is because {#blank#}3{#/blank#} psychological spite (怨恨), and it was{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (previous) thought unique to humans," said Kristin Leimgruber of Harvard University. She is a co-author of the research study. The researchers watched as some Capuchin monkeys {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (give) more food than others. They found that monkeys getting the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (small) share pulled a rope to fold up a table holding the other monkey's bigger share.

    Another lead researcher, Laurie Santas, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (explain) over email, "I think what we can conclude about humans is that some of our more embarrassing tendencies have relatively deep {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (root)." Santos said the spiteful response was not present with another member of the ape species—chimpanzees(黑猩猩).

    An earlier study, she said, showed chimpanzees would fold up the table of other chimpanzees {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (steal) food from them. But they would not punish chimpanzees who just happened {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (have) more food, Santos said. In other words, it was fine if another chimpanzee had more food as long as they did not steal it.
