We think that life in Chinese high school is an adventure in which we have to survive mountains of homework and all kinds of exams. Yet would it be {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(surprise) if I tell you that high school life in the US is almost as stressful and demanding

       In US high school, everything must {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(record) into your studying document, including your grades on quizzes, tests and final examinations. Failing

 {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(turn) in your homework on time will directly affect your grade for a certain course. Perhaps completely different from {#blank#}5{#/blank#}we used to think of theUS high school students, they pay great attention to {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(they) academic performance in order that they can get into a distinguished university.

       Like university students, US high school students have the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(free) to choose the courses that most interest them. Even a ninth-grader can sit {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the same classroom as 12th-graders. But this also {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(mean) he orshe has to work very hard, because the teacher will not treat him or her {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (different).

    For many students, the most important{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (decide) they must make at school is choosing a career .But choosing the right career {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) not easy. So how do you find one that you will enjoy?

    Before you choose a career, think about your interests and your talents, and then think about jobs {#blank#}3{#/blank#} fit them. Ask yourself: What do I enjoy doing? What do I do well?

    Next, learn about your career choices. See if the library has books {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (describe)different kinds of work. Also, try out careers by talking part-time jobs.

    Then consider {#blank#}5{#/blank#} is important to you. Perhaps you like working face to face with people. If so, a job as {#blank#}6{#/blank#} computer programmer may not be the best choice. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} you like getting a monthly salary, then starting your own business probably is not for you.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (final), remember that you can always change your mind. Most people change jobs several times during {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) working life. Your first job right after college probably will not be your career thirty years from now. Allow yourself to change if you are not {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (satisfy) with your chosen career.

     Have you ever tasted or perhaps heard of sugar painting? As fewer people choose to make this kind of painting, the traditional Chinese folk craft might have become a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(distance)memory in some ways.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, a 38-year old craftsman, Li Jianzhong, is committed to{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(keep)the art of sugar painting alive.

     Li worked as a miner for more than ten years. After {#blank#}4{#/blank#}mine closed down, Li turned to housing decoration, until he {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(force) to give that up due to a finger injury. Earlier this year, he discovered sugar painting, something he really had an interest in and a strong desire to learn.

     Since there was no sugar painting craftsman in his village, he studied by {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(he) through large quantities of videos and information on the internet. Li loved painting when he was young, and he found it easy{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(learn) the skill in sugar painting. He soon mastered the skill and could make a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(vary) of sugar paintings. A sugar painting is made with melted brown or white sugar. Craftsmen {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(normal) paint animals and flowers on a stone board with the syrup(糖浆). When the sugar cools down, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}appears is a piece of sugar art.

    Old English differs much from the English we use today. Middle English is the name given to the English used from around the 12^th {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the 15^th centuries. Many things played a part in the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (develop) of this new type of English. The most important contribution was from the Normans, a French-speaking people who  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (defeat) England and took control of the country in 1066. However, the Norman Conquest did not affect English as much as the Angels and the Saxons'victory about 600 years earlier, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} led to old English replacing Celtic. Even though the Normans spoke French for the entire 250 years they ruled England, French did not replace English as the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (one) language. On the other hand, the English language did borrow many words from French. This resulted in even {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (many) words with similar meanings, such as answer (from Old English) and reply (from Old French). Modern English appeared during the Renaissance in the 16th century.  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (pronounce) also went through huge changes during this period. Of course, this was not the end of the changes in the English language. The question of whether English will keep on changing in the future is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (easily) to answer. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is certain that this process will continue, and people will keep {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (invent) new words and new ways of saying things.

    It is predicted that the Chinese space station will be built mostly by machine. China hopes to have the space station{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(complete) by 2022 and it is expected to operate for at least 10 years.

    China also plans to land a probe（探测器）on Mars by 2020. Until now, China has completed a total of five manned space missions. And, in 2003, it{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(successful) landed a probe on the moon.
