In order to know a foreign language thoroughly, four things are necessary. Firstly, we must understand the language when we hear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} spoken. Secondly, we must be able to speak it correctly with confidence and without hesitation. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, we must be able to read the language,and fourthly, we must be able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are grammatically correct.

    There is no easy way to success {#blank#}3{#/blank#} language learning. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} good memory is of great help, but it is not enough only {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (memorize) rules from a grammar book. It is not much use learning by heart long list of words and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  meaning, studying the dictionary and so on. We must learn by using the language. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we are satisfied with only a few rules we have memorized, we are not really learning the language. "Learn through use" is a good piece of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  (advise) for those {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are studying a new language. Practice is important. We must practice speaking and {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (write) the language whenever we can.

    The Water Splashing Festival of the Dai ethnic minority (少数民族), {#blank#}1{#/blank#} falls in April, is the most important festival for the Dai people in the Dehong area of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. It is the New Year for the Dai, a festival to send off the old and greet the new.

    During the festival which lasts for three or four days, people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (dress) in their best clothes and take part in a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (various) of rich and colorful activities. Dragon boat racing, fireworks displays and other {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (performance) such as peacock dance are held on the first day. And the most popular event is water-splashing on the second day. People splash water on each other, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (hope) to take away sickness and disasters. The wetter you get, the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (lucky) you will be. The last day is usually for the young people to play games as a way {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (express) their love for each other.

    The Water Splashing Festival {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (vivid) exhibits the Dai's respect {#blank#}9{#/blank#} water and the culture of music and dance, food, and costumes. It is also a cultural bridge between Xishuangbanna and Southeast Asian countries that share {#blank#}10{#/blank#} same festival culture of water-splashing.

    I am Adam Rouse. I first {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (buy) cannabis(大麻) from a man in the street and continued to buy cannabis from him for six months and as a result, I got addicted to it. When I went back to the man for more crack cocaine, he asked me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a lot of money. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (terrible), I was in pain when I couldn't afford to buy any drugs. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (get) money, I broke into a house and stole something to sell for money. The more drugs I took, the more addicted I became. So I had to steal something every day to pay for the drugs. One day, I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (catch) stealing and sent to the police station. The next day, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} doctor came to see me and told me that I could die {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I could stop taking drugs. I took his advice and stopped immediately. Now I work in a center for drug addicts, helping others to stop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (take) drugs.
