One evening I was resting in a cafe.I wore a pair of newly bought white leather shoes,  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  were rather expensive.Then a boy came to me.

     He was in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} old and not fit shirt, looking pale and about eleven.No sooner had I begun to speak than he opened the box in his hand and took out the tools of shoe­polishing.He was busy doing his work{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  heavy rain began to pour down.People rushed to the cafe for {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  (protect) from the rain.More and more people crowded in and gradually separated the boy {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  me.

     Hours passed，and it turned dark.I had no shoes on my feet and wondered where the boy had been.I thought I would have to go home on my bare feet. When it was near midnight, the cafe was to be closed.I had to move to the door，just as I went to the gate，I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (surprise) found that a boy of about eleven, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (look) very familiar，was sleeping at the door with his head leaning  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  a box.I shook him slightly and woke him{#blank#}9{#/blank#}  .He opened the package hurriedly, gave me my leather shoes, and apologized to me shyly.I paid him and wrapped him with his {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  (fit) shirt.On my way home, the image of the boy stayed in my mind.

    A dog entered a butcher's（肉贩）shop with a note in his mouth. The note read, “$10 of lamb chops (羊排），please.”

    The butcher was very{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(surprise). He took the money, put a bag of chops in the{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(dog) mouth, and then he closed the shop{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(quick). He followed the dog and watched him wait for a green light. Then the dog crossed the road to a bus stop. He checked the timetable and sat on the bench. When a bus arrived, the dog checked the number and got{#blank#}4{#/blank#}it.

    As the bus traveled out into the countryside, the dog enjoyed the scenery. After{#blank#}5{#/blank#} while, he stood on his back paws (爪子）{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (push) the “stop” button. Then the butcher followed {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(he) off.

    The dog ran up to a house and dropped his bag on the ground. He went back down the path, took a big run, and{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (throw) himself against the door. No answer. He repeated the action a few times. Then a big man opened the door {#blank#}9{#/blank#} started complaining(抱怨) about the dog and beating him.

    Seeing this, the butcher ran up and shouted at the man, “What are you doing? This dog is a genius!” The man replied, “Genius? No way! He has forgotten his key for the{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(four) times this month!”

    Agricultural experts say crop diversity is important to feed the{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(increase) population of our planet. They say having a large variety of plants also{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(help) to protect against possible crop diseases and future crises. But many experts say the number has decreased sharply during the past century.

Farmers planted, watered, and fertilized their crops with the help of machines. They treated their fields with chemicals{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(control) diseases and insects. Harvests grew larger and higher quality,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} another result was that some traditional crops were lost. Damage to the environment over the past century makes people believe that crop diversity also suffered.

    In the closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018  China put on {#blank#}1{#/blank#} eight-minute performance "See You in Beijing in 2022", {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (direct) by Zhang Yimou. The show centered on the talents of a team of 24 roller-skating {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (perform) from Beijing Sport University.
