Theme Parks

    Parks provide people{#blank#}1{#/blank#} a place to amuse{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for a while. In recent decades, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, many parks have been designed to provide{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (entertain). We call them theme parks. Then new parks are usually huge places and have a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} of things to see and do. Theme Parks have a certain theme—that the whole parks are based {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. The {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (old) theme park in the world is Disneyland. It seemed like a magical world which can make your dream come true. But if you are interested in traditional culture and history, go to Dollywood, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you can have fun {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (learn) all about America's historical southeastern culture, then you can go to Camelot Park, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} world of fantasy about ancient England.

    Recently a really strange thing happened in a middle school in China's Hubei Province. Over 600 students there took part in a “caring for an egg like a baby”{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (active) in which they were asked to keep an egg close at hand for a month{#blank#}2{#/blank#}breaking it.

    "It's hard for parents to bring up their children{#blank#}3{#/blank#}many students just ignore it,” said Liu Kang, the school's director. "They should{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(teach) to be grateful to their parents, who have given them life but ask for nothing in return.”

    Li Ming is one of the students. His egg didn't break during the month, but he felt{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(exhaust). "I now realize that my parents have had great difficulty{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(bring) me up. I'll do all I can to make their life easier and more{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(comfort) when I grow up.” promised the 13-year-old boy.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (luck), about 10 students broke their eggs. Yan Yueming broke his egg after just five days, which made him frustrated. He said, "I can't imagine{#blank#}9{#/blank#}sad my parents would be if there was something wrong with me, their 'egg'!" It is time I{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(do) something in return for their love.” said Yan.

Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

    BEIJING,  May 14 (Xinhua)—Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday said, “The Belt and Road Initiative (倡议) {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) a project of the century that will benefit people across the world. ”

    Xi made the remarks when {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(deliver) a speech at the opening ceremony of the two-day Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Named after the historic Silk Road, the Belt and Road Initiative {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(propose) by Xi in 2013 to chart out new fields for international cooperation.

    “Going through thousands of miles and years, the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(anciently) silk routes embody (体现) the spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness (包容), mutual learning {#blank#}5{#/blank#} mutual benefit, ” Xi told an audience of more than 1, 500 from across the globe. “The Silk Road spirit  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(become) a great heritage (遗产) of human civilization so far, ” he said.

    A total of 29 foreign {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(head) of state and government leaders attended the forum,  including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Other delegates (代表) include officials,  entrepreneurs,  financiers and journalists {#blank#}8{#/blank#} over 130 countries and representatives of key international organizations. The United States sent a delegation {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(lead) by Matt Pottinger.

    By all means, the forum, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} also features a round-table summit of global leaders on Monday, is one of the premium gatherings in today's world.

    Believe it or not, have you ever noticed that you feel happier and more relaxed after you eat bread, pasta or fruit? Do you find that you are more energetic and awake after eating yogurt or beans? These things are not accidents. Food affect {#blank#}1{#/blank#} we feel more than we think.     Xie Lei, a Chinese student studying in Britain, shared her progress in both study and life. It was the first time she {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (leave) her motherland. On arriving in London, she lived with a host family, in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they always helped her. It's {#blank#}3{#/blank#} great comfort for her. And she is halfway through her {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (prepare) year, which is a must for any student before entering a degree course. But she found {#blank#}5{#/blank#} difficult to get used to the academic requirements of a western university, because she got an E for her first essay. When she asked the reason for the tutor's revision, the tutor said that she couldn't write {#blank#}6{#/blank#} other people said without {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (acknowledge) them and encouraged her to express her own ideas.

    Now Xie Lei feels much more at home in England. In other words, she adapts {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the new environment well. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (hopeful), she is going to join a few {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (club) to make friends and have a balance between study and a social life.
