Our local Community Youth Club is a very popular{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(organize) with young people in my town. We've taken part{#blank#}2{#/blank#}lots of projects.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, we've also started doing social work to help in{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(we) neighborhood. We're particularly proud of the recent project. We paid{#blank#}5{#/blank#}visit to the local people's home,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}we sang songs and played games with the elderly. After this visit, we made a decision{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(help) improve the quality of their lives. Up to now,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (probable) over twenty volunteers{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(join) us. Everyone finds the experience{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(offer) by our local Community Youth Club rich and rewarding.

    Shadow play has a long history and is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} unique kind of art form. It is performed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} sending shadows of puppets (木偶) on a piece of white cloth. The puppets made of leather (皮革) {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (paint) in very bright colours, so that the shadows they make are very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (colour).

    The players stand behind the cloth and move the puppets against strong light when {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (show) a shadow play, and the shadows of the puppets fall on the cloth. At the same time, the players talk or sing, telling a story with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (music) playing the drums and other instruments, such as erhu, sanxian, sheng, etc. People on the other side of the cloth can see the shadows of the puppets do all kinds of movements. It's just like the movie today.

    Shadow play started in the Han dynasty. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} is said that Emperor Wu of Han was sad and didn't want to do anything because one of his favourite wives died. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (cheer) him up, his officer made a puppet like the emperor's dead wife with leather. He moved it and made it {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (act) behind a piece of cloth. The emperor enjoyed it very much. After that, shadow play became {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (popular) known in China.

    Yesterday was a crazy day. I felt very tired {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I had a lot of work stuff going. Then I got {#blank#}2{#/blank#} message from one of my teammates. It said, “ We want to let you know that there are people who see and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(true)appreciate all your hard work.” This meant more to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(I)than anything else . And it made me think that maybe I need to set time aside{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(tell)the people in my life how much I appreciate what they did. Say “Thank you” {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the delivery guy, telling him that you appreciate how hard he {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(work); tell your daughter that you are proud of her {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (perform)at school; tell your mom that you notice how much she does for the family.

    Sometimes when a long time goes by without{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(recognize)for the good we do, we start to get upset, but a simple statement of appreciation could make us become{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(energy)again for a good long time.

    Chinese New Year, also {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (know) as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is the grandest festival in China. Although the audience becomes more and more critical of the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (program) in the Gala, it never stops people turning on the TV on time.
