S. T. Harvey wrote a children's book Miracle, a fictional story about trying to fit in when you stand out. Since it was released earlier this year, the book {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (appear) in classrooms and libraries {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the country, bringing with it {#blank#}3{#/blank#} powerful message about the importance of kindness.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (base) on a true story, the book tells about a boy named Auggie,  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}was born with a misshapen face that has required many {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (operate) in the 10 years since his birth. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} being homeschooled since kindergarten, he starts fifth grade at a public school. It isn't easy being the new kid, especially since Auggie looks different from everybody {#blank#}8{#/blank#} The book takes readers on a journey, as Auggie and his community learn about {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (friend) and acceptance.

    Harvey worked as an art director and graphic designer for more than 20 years before she {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (inspire) to write Miracle. Now she is using the book to promote the impact of kindness.

    Recently I have found many of us students spend too much time sending text messages or {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (play) games on cell phones, which has negative effects on our students and also does them to our eyes. Worse still, it is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} waste of time. We have little time to communicate {#blank#}3{#/blank#} our parents and friends. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} do we have time for physical exercise.

    What shall we do {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (improve) the situation? All of us should be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (full) aware of the harmful effects of frequent use of cell phones. To begin with, let's limit our time {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (spend) on cell phones and start other hobbies. And we should spend more time playing sports, which is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (benefit) to us. besides, talking with friends is also a good choice to help us relax and get rid of the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (addict).     Once, a rich man was near death. He was very upset because he had worked so hard for his money {#blank#}1{#/blank#} he hoped he could take it with him to heaven. So he prayed to God he might be able to take some money with him.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} angel heard his pray and appeared. “Sorry, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  you can't take your wealth with you.” The man begged the angel to speak to God to see {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he might break the rules. The angel reappeared and said that God could allow him to take one suitcase. Excitedly, the man gathered his suitcase and filled it {#blank#}5{#/blank#} pure gold bars.

    Afterward, he died and showed up in heaven to greet St. Peter. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  (see) the suitcase, St. Peter said, “Hold on, you can't bring that here!” The man explained that he had God's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (permit). St. Peter checked it out, came back and said, “You are right. You are allowed one carry-on bag, but I'm supposed to check its contents {#blank#}8{#/blank#} letting it through.”

    St. Peter opened the suitcase to inspect（检查）the things {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the man found too precious to leave behind and exclaimed (感叹), “You brought paving(铺路的) stones? As you can see, the great street of the city of heaven {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (make) of pure gold!”

    April Fool's day is a day {#blank#}1{#/blank#} people can play jokes on others. No one knows for sure how this holiday began. Some English people hold the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (believe) that it began on the day during the 1200s. At that time, King John of England was in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} habit of making a road out of nearly every path he walked regularly. The citizens of one farm village were aware of this. To protect their grass and farms from being destroyed, they built a fence that prevented the king from walking through their countryside. The king sent a group of soldiers to inform the villagers to remove the fence. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} hearing that, however, the villagers developed a plan of their own. When the soldiers arrived, the villagers ran around and shouted wildly with things {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (throw) away everywhere, behaving as if they {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(go) mad. The soldiers reported to the king that they were so mad as to be beyond punishment. The villagers saved their farmland {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (success) by tricking the king. Now April's day {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (remain) in fashion, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the tradition only allows tricks from midnight to noon on April 1st. Those who try to play tricks in the afternoon act as {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(fool) themselves and are usually laughed at.
