    Kate and Bruce worked in the same company (公司) in New York. They were good  often joked with each other.

    One day Kate  Bruce on her way to the company. She said, "Hi, Bruce. It's good to see you.

    "How can you see when I'm not here?" asked Bruce.

    "What do you mean? You are not here?" asked Kate. "you are here."

    "No, I' m not," said Bruce. "And I'll bet (打赌) you ten dollars that I can prove (证明) I'm not here.

    “All right?”said Kate. "Ten dollars. Now prove you are not here.

    “It's .”said Bruce. “Am I in Hong Kong?”

    "No," said Kate.

    "Am I in Paris?"

    "No," said Kate.

    "If I'm not in Hong Kong and I'm not in Paris," said Bruce, "then I be somewhere else(其他的). Is that ?"

    "Of course," said Kate.

    "And if I' m somewhere else, I can't be here, can I? Ten dollars, please."

    "You're so  Bruce."

    "We had a bet."

    "Sure we had a bet," said Kate. "But  can I give you ten dollars if you are not here?"

    Then Kate walked away  a laugh.
