Travelling is a very good activity. When you get tired of your work or study, and when you have free time, you can go to a beautiful place to enjoy the beauty(美丽) of nature(大自然) or other cities. You can take in fresh air, meet different people and make friends with them. It's good for your health to do so.

    But sometimes, travelling is not an enjoyable thing. For example, the weather can be changeable. There may be rain when you travel. You may catch a cold or be ill while travelling. The worst(最糟糕的) thing is that the thieves may steal(偷) your money. All these may happen to a traveler.

When you go on a trip, you must get everything ready. Firstly, you must have clear information about the weather. Secondly, ask a friend to go with you so that you can help each other. Thirdly, you must be careful everywhere and try not to cause accidents（引起事故）. If you do these, you will enjoy your travel.

    Too many people want others to be their friends, but they don't give friendship back. That is why some friendships don't last very long. To have a friend, you must learn to be one. You must learn to treat your friend the way you want your friend to treat you. Learning to be a good friend means learning three rules: be honest, be generous(慷慨的), be understanding.

    Honesty is where a good friendship starts. Friends must be able to hones' one another.

    ①如果你不说实话，人们通常都会识破。If a friend finds out that you haven't been hones', you may lose your friend'.

    Generosoity means sharing and sharing makes a friendship grow. You don't have to give your lunch money or your clothes, of course. Instead you have to learn how to share things you enjoy, like your hobbies and your interests. Naturally  you will want to share your ideas and feelings. These can be very valuable to a friend. They tell your friend what is important to you ③________.

    Sooner or later everyone needs understanding and help with a problem. Something may go wrong at school. ④Talking about the problem can make it easier to solve. Turning to a friend can be a first step in solving the problem. So to be a friend, you must listen and understand. You must try to put yourself in your friend's place so you can understand the problem better.

    ②No two friendship are ever exactly alike. But all true friendships have three things in common. If you plan to keep your friends, you must practise honesty, generosity and understanding.

    Spending time in a bookshop can be enjoyable. If you go to a good bookshop, no assistant(店员)will come near to you and say, "Can I help you? "You needn't buy anything you don't want. If you want to find some books, the assistant will lead you there and then he or she will go away. He or she seems not to be interested in selling any books at all.

    There is a story about a good bookshop. A student wanted to buy a very useful book in the bookshop. But it was too expensive for him to buy. So every afternoon, he went there to read a little at a time. (One day, however, he couldn't find the book from its usual place. He was leaving when he saw an assistant signing(示意)to him. He was surprised that the assistant pointed to the book in the corner. "I put it there so that people couldn't see it or buy it," said the assistant. Then he left the student to go on with his reading.

    There are 22 classes in Mary's school. There are thirty five students in each class, but there are thirty four students in her class. There are twenty boys and fourteen girls. Her classroom is on the third floor(楼层). There's a computer and a television in her classroom. The computer is on the teacher's desk. There aren't any pictures in the classroom. The classroom is big and clean.

    Mary likes to run. Ever since she was in the third grade, she has been training to run long distances. Now that she was in her eighth grade, her parents agreed to let her run in the Banana Classic. The Banana Classic is a ten-kilometre race. It takes place every year in Mattydale. The winners get a lifetime supply (提供) of peanuts and fruit juice.

    Mary practised by running ten kilometres, twice every day. On the average (平时的) run, she would finish in thirty minutes. Last year's winner finished the race in twenty-six minutes and ten seconds!

    On the day of the race, Mary ran faster than she ever had in the past. As she came across the last kilometre, she was in the fourth place. She picked up the pace (步伐) and quickly reached the second place, just as she could see the finishing line. She ran as fast as she could in a mad dash (冲刺) to the finish line, but she just wasn't fast enough to get ahead of the leader.
