Let's have a look at some different kinds of entertainment (娱乐).

 Watching television is one. There are different kinds of programs on TV. Change the channels (频道) and you can see everything on TV, from news, to music, to movies.

 Going to the cinema is another. Once a week or twice a month, it is good entertainment, if you like watching movies. You make a plan, go out, watch a movie and eat out! It's more interesting than sitting on the sofa and changing channels.

 Surfing the Internet is another! You can talk with friends and play games. You can use it to do work and study. You can find everything you like on the Internet.

 Books are still man's best friend. Reading a book is the best way to get calm. A good book will take you to a new life. Now many people don't like this entertainment, but you should try it, if you are bored with others.

      Why are so many people so afraid to fail? Quite simply because no one tells us how to fail so that failure (失败) becomes an experience that means growth. We forget that failure is part of the human condition and that every person has the right to fail.

      Most parents work hard at preventing failure or protecting their children from the knowledge that they have failed. One way is to lower standards. 60% of the parents choose this way. When a child finishes making a table, the mother describes it as “perfect” even though it doesn't stand still. Another way is to blame (责怪) others. If John fails in science, his teacher is unfair or stupid.

      There's a problem with the two ways. It makes a child unprepared for life in the real world. The young need to learn that no one can be best at everything, no one can win all the time, and that it's possible to enjoy a game even when you don't win. A child who's not invited to a birthday party, who doesn't make the honour list on the baseball team, feels terrible, of course. But parents should not offer a quick consolations (安慰), prize or say, “It doesn't matter.” Because it does. The young should be allowed to experience failure and be helped to come out of it.

     Failure never gives people pleasure. It hurts both grown-ups and children. But it can be really good to your life when you learn to use it. You must learn to ask “Why did I fail?” Don't blame anyone else. Ask yourself what you did wrong and how you can improve. If someone else can help, don't be shy about asking them.

    Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa， Italy. He was the oldest of five children in a worker's family. He enjoyed going to the sea when he was a young boy.

    He heard that there was a lot of gold and other valuable things in East India. He wanted to find a short way to get to the Indies by ship. On August 3， 1492， he sailed toward the west from Palos， Spain with three ships. After many days， the sailors had covered a long distance on the sea and were ready to turn around for home when they saw land， an island Columbus named San Salvador. He thought he had found the Indies and called the people he saw there “Indians”. When they got to Cuba， he thought he was in Japan. The world was a lot larger than he thought.

    In his life， he made four trips across the ocean. His 13-year-old son， Ferdinand， went with him during the last time. He returned to Spain in 1504. Columbus did not become rich as he had hoped. At the end of his life he only had a pension(退休金) the king and the queen had given him because he was the first to reach the New World. He died in 1506， still believing that he had found a new route to East India and that he had reached Asia.

    Columbus didn't get to school very much， but he learned to read and write Spanish during his travels. He also taught himself Latin because all the geography books were written in Latin. He is remembered by all not only for the New World he discovered， but also for the way he led for other explorers.

    Peng Liyiian, First Lady of China, made a speech in English at the United Nations on September 26, 2015. She talked about education and shared her Chinese dream with the world.

    Peng began her speech with a story of her father. Her father grew up in a small village in China. In those days, not many villagers could read, so her father opened a night school to teach them. With his help, many people learned to write their names and read newspapers for the first time. And many women were able to teach their children how to read. Peng's father's love for education influenced her deeply. She was lucky enough to have a good education. Later, she followed her father's footsteps and became a professor of music.

    Education is important, but still, some children in China can't go to school. Peng hopes that all children can have a good education, and that is her Chinese dream.

    My favorite animals are swans (天鹅). They are white. They can swim very well. I think they look like beautiful girls in white dresses (连衣裙). They have a pair of wings (翅膀) and they can also fly (飞) well. I believe  (认为) they are angels (天使) from the sky (天空). They bring us love and make (使) us happy. They are always friendly to us. We can't kill them, because they are our friends. I love them!

    I also like dogs. They are not beautiful, but they are the best friends. They keep the thieves (小偷) away. Dogs have the best hearing and eyesight. They can hear (听见) in the noise (喧闹声) and see in the dark (黑暗). If we are in danger, they will help us at once (立刻). So, I love them.
