Tea and coffee are two of the most popular drinks in the world. However, people usually like one more than the other. These drinks also have very different uses. 

Tea drinking started in China over 4, 000 years ago. Tea is made from leaves. These days, some people drink tea for health, using it to help with stress or lose weight. However, most people in tea-drinking countries think of tea as more than just a healthy drink. In fact, tea drinking in some countries is a part of the culture. In Turkiye(土耳其), tea is always there when people meet. Whether in someone's home or a company, tea is always offered as a way of welcoming. In the UK, homes and offices usually have tea time. Tea and other dishes are served at tea time in the afternoon. It is a way to feel at ease with friends or co-workers(同事). 

Coffee came much later than tea, just over 1, 000 years ago. Coffee is made from beans. Something in the coffee beans makes a person feel active. Most people do not drink coffee to relax. Instead, they drink coffee to get going. Many people drink coffee in the morning to help themselves wake up. Others will also drink coffee during short breaks in the afternoon to keep going through the working day. Some people may visit coffee shops just to meet and talk with friends. However, many people in coffee shops drink coffee while working on their computers.

In our school, all students have their favourite subjects. But students in different grades like different subjects.

In Grade Seven, students' favourite subject is always Chinese, because it's their mother tongue. They like PE and music, too. Students at this age like playing sports. Why is music welcome? Because most of them think music is relaxing.

In Grade Eight, some students like maths very much. But they aren't very good at maths, because maths in Grade Eight is a little difficult. They also like science and geography. They can learn a lot from science, and they seem(似乎) to go around China in geography classes.

In Grade Nine, English is some students' favourite subject. It's useful. Students often talk with friends in English. They also watch English movies to learn English.

Hello, I'm Wu Dong. I study at a basketball school in Jiangxi, China. In this school, I learn 1 to play basketball. Also, I study other subjects like math and music.

Instructions

●Before you begin, make sure that you pull the balloon long to make it as easy as possible to blow up. 

●Put the 40 ml of water into the soft drink bottle. 

●Add the baking soda and mix it with water. 

●Put the vinegar in and quickly put the balloon over the mouth of the bottle. 

What's happening?

If all goes well then the balloon should become bigger and bigger! Adding the vinegar to the baking soda creates a chemical effect. The baking soda is a base(碱), while the vinegar is an acid(酸). When the two are mixed, they'll create CO2. The gas rises up and runs away through the soft drink bottle. However, it doesn't get away from the balloon, pushing it outwards and blowing it up.

Before the party：

The reading club bought 50 English storybooks. Each member chose one of them to read a month ago. They had to read it carefully and the club might choose some of them to share their book reports. 

At the party：

•The book shared by Cindy was Alice in Wonderland. She read the story carefully，prepared a lot，and gave a fantastic book report at the party. 

•The book brought by Jack was Journey to the West. He told us about his own reading experience and showed his excellent spoken English. 

•Zhang Hua finally brought Little Red Riding Hood. She showed nine words that impressed（使留下深刻印象）her very much and used them to make up a wonderful story. 

After the party：

Every member had a good time and learned a lot from the activity. They became more interested in reading and expressing themselves in English.
