    The other day my friends and I were eating in the cafeteria {#blank#}3{#/blank#} I saw her walking around. When she came closely to us I could see that she was crying. She pulled out a tissue and quickly wiped her eyes. I thought to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} that this lady was so under-appreciated that she needed {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (praise) for all her hard work. So I wrote a note {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (say) that the students appreciated everything she did and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} her contribution to our school made a difference in all of our lives. I signed it “Some thankful students” and slipped it into {#blank#}8{#/blank#} envelope. Then I realized I didn't even know her name. I asked all of my professors but nobody knew her name. I finally went to ask the lady at student services and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (tell) that her name is Kathy. I brought her a bunch of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (color) sunflowers and taped the envelope to it. I brought the flowers to school and left them in her office. I believed I would see her smile soon.

    On a clear February morning, a California black bear was set free. Looking around, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(skillful) climbed the nearest tree. Soon, the bear was an expert at climbing trees and "picking" the fruit. All the staff felt{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(amaze) at his adaptability.

Finally, the day had come. With his new skill and strong body, the bub was ready to be{#blank#}10{#/blank#}his own, and ready to live like a bear should— in the wild.

What's even{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(bad), some addicts become impatient with relatives and friends. Some people blame the Smartphone for the sad story, yet in fact people's weakening self-control and self-discipline are to blame.

    Once there lived a rich man,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} wanted to do something for the people of his town. But first he wanted to find out {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they were worth his help or not.

    In the center of the main road into the town, he placed a very large stone. Then he {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (hide) behind a tree and waited. Soon an old man came along with his cow. “Who put this stone in the centre of the road?” said the old man, but he did not try to remove the stone.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, with some difficulty he passed around the stone and continued on his way. Some neighbors will come along later in the dark and will fall against the stone. ” Then pushing and pulling with all his {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (strong), the young man began to move the stone ... How {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (surprise) he was! There was a bag of money under{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

    In South Korea smartphone cases come with rings fixed on the back {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (prevent) clumsy owners from dropping them. This makes people look like they are married to their phones. In lots of Seoul's coffee {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (shop), couples on dates spend much more time looking at their screens {#blank#}3{#/blank#} at each other. The results go beyond the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (potential) terrible consequences for romance.

    Walk around the streets of Seoul, and there is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} real risk of bumping into people {#blank#}6{#/blank#} eyes are glued to their smartphone screens. According to the statistics, around 370 traffic accidents annually {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (cause) by pedestrians using smartphones.

    The government initially tried to fight the "smombie" (手机僵尸) phenomenon by distributing hundreds of stickers (贴纸) around cities, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (beg) people to "be safe" and look up. This seems to have had little effect even though, in Seoul at least, it recently replaced the stickers with stronger plastic boards.

    Instead {#blank#}9{#/blank#} appealing to people's good sense, the authorities have therefore turned to trying to save them from being run over. Early last year, they {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (begin) to test floor-level traffic lights in smombie hotspots in central Seoul. Since then, the experiment has been extended around and beyond the capital. For the moment, the government is keeping old-fashioned eye-level pedestrian lights as well. But in future, the way to look at a South Korea crossroads may be down.

After a lot of preparation, Joseph Lockwood and Philippa Amos were finally ready to start their journey into the Amazon rainforest.
