Last Friday, my friend David called me and invited me and our friend Tom to a party in his university. Tom and I are in{#blank#}1{#/blank#} same class. We both wanted to go to the party, but there was a problem--we'd have a final exam on the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (come) Monday.

    “Don't worry. We can come back on Sunday and won't miss the exam,” really{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (want) to go to the party, Tom said. So I decided to go{#blank#}4{#/blank#} him.

However, we stayed up late on Saturday night and slept all day on Sunday and didn't make it back to our university until Monday morning. We missed the exam. Another may say that he sees rush-hour traffic jam at the intersection. The {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(three) may tell you that he sees a woman trying to cross the street with four children.     Many psychologists today are working to try {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(determine) just how a person experiences or perceives the world around. Using a scientific approach, these psychologists set up experiments in  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they can control all of the factors.  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} measuring and charting the results of many experiments, they are trying to find out what makes different people perceive  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(total) different things about the same scene.

    In my family, there {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) three people. My father is a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (farm) and goes to work in the field every day. He isn't good at {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (talk) but he gets on well with other people. My mother is very kind and is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (friend) to everybody. So when I have {#blank#}5{#/blank#} problem I will turn{#blank#}6{#/blank#} her for help. My friends say I am clever, because when the teacher asks {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (we) very difficult questions, I can come up with the answers {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (quick). But my father thinks I am not patient. He says once I have difficulty in {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (solve) problems, I will {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (easy) give up. This is what I need to improve in the future.

    Last week, seven-year-old Charlotte Benjamin {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (become) a household name, and a hero to young girls everywhere, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} her handwritten letter to the LEGO company went public.

    In her letter, Charlotte complains about the lack of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (diverse) in Lego characters. Here's what she wrote:

    "Dear Lego company,

    My name is Charlotte.

    Today I went to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} store and saw Legos in two sections — the girls' pink and the boys' blue. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} all the girls did was to sit at home, go to the beach, and shop, and they had no jobs but the boys went on adventures, worked, and even swam with sharks.

    Yesterday, LEGO responded to Charlotte {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (state) that they would include more female characters and themes, and that they have added new characters to the LEGO world {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (balance) the appeal of their themes.
