Molly is a 12-year-old girl. She has blonde hair and black eyes. She's of medium height. She's very friendly. She has a lot of friends and her best friend is a 14-year-old boy. She is always the center of attention (关注) and everyone loves her. 

Jeff is an 11-year-old boy. He has blonde hair and brown eyes. He's of medium build. His parents are very busy. They don't have much time to stay with him. He spends most of his time with his grandparents. He doesn't like to talk in front of people. But he's very smart. 

Joe is a 13-year-old boy. He has black hair and big eyes. He's very tall. He's very nice and everyone loves him. He likes sports a lot. He's on the school basketball team. His friends think he can be a great basketball player in the future, but he wants to be a doctor.

Many people think of cities and nature as two different things. However, some cities around the world are trying new and creative ways to bring nature and wildlife into city areas. 

In order to make better use of city gardens, places like Los Angeles in the US make community gardens. The gardens serve the community in many ways. In city farms, people grow vegetables to sell at markets with the money going to people in need. In the educational gardens, people are taught how to eat healthily. 

In Edmonton, Canada, more than twelve wildlife bridges have been built. One of the largest is a 30-meter-long bridge near Big Lake in the northwest of the city. It's a good way to protect animals' habitats（栖息地）. 

A "sponge city"（海绵城市）is a city to deal with floods. How does it work? Just as a sponge can absorb（吸收）water, a sponge city can deal with heavy rain. Wuhan is one of China's first cities to start the project. By the end of 2020, 20% area of the city has been covered by sponges. In 2030, the number will rise to 80%. There are now more than 30 "sponge cities" in China, including Jinan and Xiamen.

Welcome to life in the future! You get up in the morning and look into the mirror. You've recently had a new anti-aging treatment (抗衰老治疗), so you look like a 30-year-old. And many people your age could live to be 120 now, so at 60, you're not old at all.

Science has also found amazing ways to keep people healthy. Nanotechnology (纳米技术) can help improve your health. And if any part of your body is unhealthy, you can "grow" a new one in a laboratory (实验室).

As you get dressed, you say to your shirt, "Turn red". It becomes red. In 2045, you can program clothes to change colors or sizes.

On the way to the kitchen, you want to call a friend. Your cell phone is by the window because it gets its energy (电量) from the sun. But you don't need to pick up the phone. You can just touch your jacket to make the call.

It's breakfast time. You reach for the milk, but a voice says, "Don't drink that!" Your fridge (冰箱) knows the milk is old, and tells the supermarket to replace (替换) it. Ten minutes later, a new one will be sent back.

As you leave for work, the lights turn off (切断电路) by themselves. Your home goes into "sleep" mode (模式) to save energy. In 2045, cars drive themselves, so you just tell your driverless car where you want to go.

Will all this come true? Perhaps the future is much closer than we think.

This is Mike's room.  You can see a desk and a bed in the room. On the desk, there is a schoolbag and three books. One is a Chinese book，and the other two（另外两本）are English books. There is a clock on the desk，too. You can see a baseball under the desk.  On the bed，there is a box. What's in the box？ Oh, it's a new computer game. It's the present（礼物） for Mike.  It is Mike's birthday today.
