Have you ever entered a tropical rainforest(热带雨林)？ Rain forests make up only a small part of the Earth's surface, about six percent, but there are more kinds of trees than any other area in the whole world.

Tropical rainforests are in Africa, Asia, central and south America , Australia and on the Pacific Islands. The largest tropical rainforest is the Amazon Rain Forest in South America , which covers almost seven million square kilometers. The second largest rainforest is in Western Africa.

Rainforests provide us with many things. In fact , the Amazon Rain Forest is "the lungs of our planet" because it produces 20% of the world's oxygen(氧气). One fifth of the world's fresh water is also found in the Amazon Rain Forest. 80% of the food we eat first grew in the rainforest. 25% of the drugs (药) we take when we are sick are made of plants that grow only in the rainforest. Some of these drugs are even used to fight illnesses.

There are four different levels of trees in a rainforest. The forest floor is the lowest layer(层) full of animal life and receives the least amount of light. The under layer is the dark , cool environment under the leaves but over the ground. The canopy(树冠) layer is the upper parts of most of the trees. The emergent(突出的) layer contains a small number of very tall trees.

These different parts of a rainforest are together to create an ecosystem for many animals, plants and human beings.

My name is Liam Wong and I work in a video game company (公司). To make games more interesting and more enjoyable, I travel a lot. I have traveled to lots of places around the world since I got the job two years ago.

And of all the cities I have visited, I love Tokyo best. I fell in love with Tokyo when I first visited it in 2014. And during my second trip there, I bought my first DSLR and used it to take many photos of different parts of Tokyo.

Then one night it rained and the city seemed more beautiful. I enjoyed the beauty of Tokyo that night, and kept taking pictures. After putting the pictures online, many people asked me, "How could you take such wonderful photos? Do you have great shooting (摄影) skills? Did you wait hours to take the photos?" I said no. I just walked around and captured (拍摄) what was in front of me.

Doorbells are the bells（铃）for people to ring at a door. When someone hears it, he or she can open the door. Do you know that you can ring a doorbell for fish, too?

Every spring, millions of fish migrate（洄游）along the river in the city to find better places to lay eggs. But in the river, there are many locks（水闸）. They stop fish from swimming through. Weerd Lock is in Utrecht, the fourth largest city in the Netherlands. When fish get there, they have to wait a long time before the lock opens for boats to pass through. The lock keeper there is glad to open the lock for fish, but he cannot tell when fish want to get through. So in 2021, Mark a scientist, came up with a good idea to help solve this problem— by using the fish doorbell.

Under the water near the lock, there's a camera. People from around the world can visit a website to see fish through the camera. When you see a group of fish waiting, you can ring the doorbell on the screen. And when the lock keeper notices it, he will open the lock for the fish.

After four months of digging, the Ningbo Cultural Heritage Research Institute shared what they found at the Malangxia site (马廊厦遗址) on August 29. The exciting discovery in Yuyao, Zhejiang Province, China, has helped us learn more about how people lived and how society changed over a very long time.

The site is 2,000 m² big, and 102 things were found like ash pits (坑), houses, tombs (坟墓), and roads. They were made in the middle and lower parts of the Changjiang River area. Imagine digging up layers (层) of history like layers of cake! The Malangxia Site has five different layers, and each one is like a different chapter in a book, telling us about a different time period.

The first layer is from the Shang-Zhou dynasties, and we found a special tomb. As we move up to the next layer. Here, we found lots of cool things like houses, pits, tombs, and roads. They are like photos that record the life at that time. The third isn't as full as the others. We only found one tomb. But the fourth layer has a lot of findings, with pits, tombs and holes. These things show us how art styles from the north and south of China mixed together.

Local experts say that the Malangxia Site is the biggest and best-kept archaeological (考古的) site in Yuyao so far. It's like a treasure box full of history that helps us understand how society changed over thousands of years. It's amazing to think that just by digging, we can learn so much about people who lived long ago!
