While many of us go to sleep before midnight, some teenagers choose to stay up much later. They are not driven by the burning desire to write a better essay or achieve a higher grade. Instead, they are busy playing online games. Known as young Internet addicts, they have long been a problem in China. A report released(发布) in 2010 by the China Youth Association for Network Development showed that there were over 24 million young Internet addicts among China's young urban Internet users. The report also said that over 18 million youth tended to develop Internet addiction.

To deal with the problem of Internet addiction among teenagers, the Cyberspace Administration of China released draft regulations (法规草案) in January which carried out a ban on online gaming. If the regulations are passed, under-18s would be banned from playing online games between midnight and 8 am.

As soon as the government's draft law was introduced, it drew great attention from the public. Some thought highly of the law as a way to better protect teenagers, saying that too much overnight gaming is harmful to teenagers' health and believing the period between midnight and 8 am to be important to human physical functions. However, others wondered whether it would be practicable if it came into effect, as teenagers could just borrow their parent' IDs to register (登录)accounts to play online games. The Guangming Daily suggested that parents should help their teenagers find a balance between the cyber(网络的)world and the real world.

China is by no means the only one trying to fight against teenage gaming addiction. Germany introduced a regulation in 2002 trying to stop teenagers from playing online games from 10 pm to 6 am. Meanwhile, the UK, the US and Australia have forced a rating system(分级制) on computer games to make sure that teenagers cannot access  “adult” content such as violence, sex or bad language.

Did you go somewhere for your Spring Festival holiday? Did you get lost in the crowds and become one of hundreds or thousands of people crammed together in front of a building, a landscape, a bridge or even a painting? This is what we call "overtourism"—the phenomenon of a popular destination or sight becoming overrun with tourists in an unsustainable way.

Overtourism occurs when there are too many visitors to a particular destination. "Too many" is a subjective term, of course, but it is defined in each destination by local residents, hosts, business owners and tourists. When rent prices push out local tenants to make way for holiday rentals, that is overtourism. When narrow roads become jammed with tourist vehicles, that is overtourism. When wildlife is scared away, when tourists cannot view landmarks because of the crowds, when fragile environments become degraded—these are all signs of overtourism.

These years, the travel industry focuses almost exclusively on growth, with little or no concern for the impacts. In many destinations, tourism now demonstrably creates more problems than benefits. This can take many forms; perhaps a million additional tourists are arriving in a capital city, or 20 additional tourists in a small, rural community.

And whenever you travel, try and ensure as much of your cash stays as local as possible. Pay national park entrance fees to ensure your visit supports conservation; stay in locally owned guesthouses; eat at local restaurants and take tours with local guides. Tourism can still be very much a force for good, and ensuring that local residents, habitats and wildlife benefit from your presence is an important part of that.

During lunchtime, Emma suggested going to the zoo to feed the animals and her mom agreed.

"We'll stop by the bakery and pick some bread up. Now hurry and eat and then we'll go. It's going to be a lovely day. Grandma is coming with us. She'll be here any minute,' mom said.

Emma ate her lunch and then ran into her room to get her shoes. The problem was that she could only find one of them. She looked under her bed, but all she could see were dirty towels and pants. She moved some of her toys out of the way, but still couldn't find her shoe. After she'd checked everywhere in her room, she ran into the kitchen. "Mom, I can't find my shoe. Will you wait while I look for it?"she asked.

Her mom thought about how many times she'd told Emma to clean her room up. She whispered something to Emma's grandma and then said to Emma, "You will have to stay home. Your dad and I will take Ryan to the zoo. Grandma will stay here with you."

"No! Please wait for me. I want to go to the zoo,"Emma cried. "I'm sorry, Emma. I've told you a dozen times to clean your room and you ignored me. You can't find your shoe now. It's your own fault for not doing as I asked. You will stay home."

Emma ran into her bedroom, crying. Her mom came to the door and said, "Emma, clean that room of yours before I get home. I've told grandma not to give you any sweets until you finish the work." She went out to the car with Ryan and Emma's dad and then they drove away.
