When I was little，I was really little.But my dream was big.I dreamed of being a basketball player.I tried out for the teams at school，but I was never given a chance.

As I got older，I did grow a little bigger，but not a lot bigger.On my 12th birthday，I decided to try a new sport：running.I told Grandpa，"I'm going to be a sportsman.""

"Dave，"Grandpa began gently，"if you can't be big，you can do something big."

I ran 12 miles on my 12th birthday.On my 13th birthday，I did it again，but I added an extra（额外的）mile.On my 14th birthday，I ran 14 miles.15 on my 15th，16 on my 16th，and you guessed it—17 miles on my 17th birthday.All this running inspired（激发） another big dream.Someday，I'd run the Boston Marathon（马拉松赛）.I told Grandpa about my decision."But，Dave，you haven't trained for the marathon.Are you sure you're OK？"Grandpa asked.But he was still sure to walk over and cheer me on.I ran fast that day.But I fell at Mile 18 and the workers sent me to the hospital.Later that night，I called Grandpa and told him I failed."No，"he said calmly，"you didn't fail.You discovered something."I did？"I asked.

"Yes，you discovered that big dreams don't just come true.They take work.If you train and work hard，I am sure to wait for you next year and cheer you on."

I trained every day，running miles and miles.Sadly，just two months into my training，Grandpa died.He wouldn't be waiting for my second Boston Marathon.I decided I'd run for him.

That day，I ran fast，"Keep going!You can do it!"His words filled my head as I forced my legs to make each painful step.As I crossed the finish line，I threw my arms in the air and cried， "Grandpa，I did it!"

I was happy because I worked short days today in the animal hospital. The worker opened the door at 9 am. She also made everyone a cup of tea or coffee. We fed the animals. About 10 am, pet owners(宠物主人) started to arrive with their sick pets. My assistant(助手) examined(检查) them. I was busy doing the paperwork . I used about two hours to have lunch and finished all my paperwork. 

At 2 pm, I started to see new sick animals. At 5 pm, three students from a nearby school came to help out. They are very kind and warm—hearted. From 5 pm to 7 pm, I still saw sick animals. 

At 7 pm, we closed our doors. We fed and cleaned the animals. Then, we turned off the lights and went home. It was a really meaningful day.

How do you like movies? I think movies are full of{#blank#}1{#/blank#} people, moving stories and answers to everyday problems. I also like the music and pictures of movies. If you have a bad day, you may just watch a sad movie and you will find that{#blank#}2{#/blank#} problems are not so bad.

While I use{#blank#}3{#/blank#} to deal with problems in my life, I have a chance to see life from different{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. We have busy lives, buy different clothes, cars and go to{#blank#}5{#/blank#} schools. All of us are from different backgrounds. Some are rich while{#blank#}6{#/blank#} are poor. Some have good jobs, but others don' t. Movies let us think about what life was like in the past, understand the present and think about the future. Other things don't let you do this{#blank#}7{#/blank#} than watching a movie.

I love all kinds of movies. Of course, I have my{#blank#}8{#/blank#}, like The Sound of Music, Titanic and so on. I also like to watch movies with my family.

So, pick out your favorite old movies, or watch a new kind of movies. You can also watch one with your family. Get{#blank#}9{#/blank#} ,disappointed or worried and cry if you have to. But just remember this: Life is your movie, and try to be a good{#blank#}10{#/blank#} of your life.

Last year, I did not like my English classes. The teacher spoke so {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (quick) that I did not understand her most of the time. But I was afraid to ask {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(question) because of my poor pronunciation. I just said nothing. 

Then one day I watched {#blank#}3{#/blank#} English movie called Toy Story. I was really interested in this exciting {#blank#}4{#/blank#} funny movie, so I began to watch other English movies too. At {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (one), I couldn't understand everything the characters (角色) said. Soon I found their body language and the expressions (表情) helped me {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(get) the meanings. I also realized (意识到) I could get the meanings {#blank#}7{#/blank#} listening to the key words. I also learnt some useful (有用的){#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sentence). That's because I always looked {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) up in the dictionary. 

Now I really enjoy my English classes. I  {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (learn) more new words and grammar in the future. In this way, I can have a better understanding of English movies.
