Sally is an 8-year-old girl. She likes 1 very much. She thinks they are people's friends. Of all the animals, pandas are her favorite because the panda is one of 2 , and she goes to the zoo to see them every month.

One Sunday afternoon, Sally goes to the zoo with her parents by bus. When they3 there, she runs to the pandas' house quickly. There are two pandas in the zoo. They are Lucy and Lily. She is happy 4 them every time.

But when Sally gets to the pandas' house, she sees lots of people talking in front of the house. And it's kind of 5 . "What's wrong with the pandas?" Sally asks anxiously(焦急地).

"Oh! Don't worry(担心), little girl. The pandas are 6 ," an old woman answers.

Then Sally looks into the house. Lucy and Lily are in the house. They 7 with a ball. And she also finds another panda in it.

"8 is he?" she asks.

"He's Peter. He 9 another zoo," a man in uniform(制服) says. "Next year, you may see a small panda here."

"A small panda! I love that," Sally says 10 ．

Marshall was a promising young artist. He painted with great feeling. His paintings were all characterized by a strong love and sympathy for people. His high school art teacher felt he had a special talent. 

Marshall's father didn't want him to be a painter, however. Mr. Donaldson wanted his son to be a stockbroker(股票经纪人). He wanted Marshall to continue the dynasty started by his great-great grandfather in 1820. The family business, Donaldson and Donaldson Inc. , was now a large, successful investment firm. 

Mr. Donaldson felt Marshall was much too individualistic. "Listen, " he told his son, "I had no say in choosing my career. I just did what my dad told me. "

"But you are good at business, " Marshall replied. "I'm not. I'm sure I would just cause trouble for you and problems for the company. " Marshall felt there was no way he could ever fill his father's shoes. And, although he was no stranger to high society, he didn't feel comfortable among the wealthy. He preferred the ordinary, working-class people of the city. His paintings told of their struggles and their hopes. 

Sometimes after school Marshall would hang around outside a factory gate. He would draw the workers as they came out at the end of their shift. Marshall wondered how they could keep doing that hard, boring work year after year. Then he realized most of them would be doing something different if they could. But their great obstacle in life was lack of education. 

When Marshall got home, he would take out his paintings. The paintings expressed his sympathy and respect for those hard-working people. 

Well, Marshall never did enter the family business. This angered his father. But as Marshall got older, his career as an artist began to take off. He became quite famous, and people paid large amounts for his "plain people" paintings. 

In time, this success won Marshall's dad over. Mr. Donaldson could see his son was born to paint. Marshall was glad his father finally came around. And happily, the two began to work together after all. Twice each year they held a benefit art show. 

Marshall donated a number of his paintings to be sold at each show. The persuasive Mr. Donaldson got his wealthy friends and clients(客户) to attend—and to spend. The money from the art sales was used to help factory workers improve their education. 

Last summer, my family and I went to England and we spent two weeks in Cornwall. It took us five hours to get there by car. We 1 in a hotel near a lake. We did a lot of different things there 2 ： we went for long walks, played games, went shopping and swam in the lake.

After {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(arrive) in Beijing, we visited Dad's university, Tsinghua University. It was big and beautiful just like Beijing {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(it). And the food was really fantastic. Sure，the food in America was also delicious but {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(actual ) I liked Chinese food better. Things in Beijing surprised me a lot and I wanted {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(know) why everything was so amazing here. The answer immediately rushed into my mind — hard work. Things {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(develop) rapidly in China now. China has changed for the better. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} everyone is working very hard to create a better future. 

Eric is my cousin. He is1 14-year-old middle school student. He is different from other children in many ways. Though most kids like to watch cartoons, he never watches 2 . He thinks cartoons are meaningless. He likes to watch educational TV shows. For example, he likes watching documentaries(纪录片). He says he can 3 learn about different cultures of different countries from them. He likes to watch the news, too. "It can tell me what is happening 4 the world, " he says. And he tells me that the news is 5 than game shows. He can't stand game shows.

 Last year in early summer, I was walking up the hill to my house when I saw two birds, each about 60 centimeters tall, standing on the path. They didn't seem to 1 me until I was right in front of them and then they at once moved 2 into the bushes.

I was quite excited by the idea of two birds making a nest in my front yard, although I didn't really expect it 3 wild birds don't usually nest so close.

A few weeks later, the birds4 again. I found them crouching(蜷缩) beside a tree off to the side of the path. As I moved nearer to them,I imagined that they would 5 like they did last time. But 6 they stuck out their heads and made a threatening(威胁的) croaking(呱呱叫) sound. It seemed to warn me not to go any7 .

I didn't know 8 they were croaking at me until a short time later I made an amazing discovery they had 9 small baby birds.

As I moved quietly towards the birds,10 not to make any sudden movements, they started their croaking again. They straightened their necks forward so 11 seemed longer and more threatening. The mother carefully crouched down over the two chicks, and 12 them well in her feathers.

I was watching them with 13 when I suddenly tripped and fell to the ground. The birds took this as a threat and the father raced towards me, spreading his14 to protect the mother and the chicks while making himself appear larger.

I was15 to have surprised them and left quickly. I was amazed by their fearless actions. Their parental natural ability kicked in and made them so brave. It is hard not to respect nature.
