Winter comes after autumn and before spring. It brings snow and ice. Here are different ways to know it's winter.

The days are short and the nights are cold. The winter solstice (冬至) is the start of the coldest days in winter, and it is the shortest day of the year!

The sun isn't warm in winter. There is lots of snow in winter. People and animals don't like to go outside.

In winter, when you look outside, you'll see a lot of brown things, not the green ones. There are no leaves on most of the trees.

Some animals hibernate. They sleep in winter. But others keep food in autumn to eat in winter, because it is difficult to find food. Many birds fly from the north to warm places for the winter. They will come back when spring comes.

Talent shows are becoming very popular because they are exciting and allow people to see others' special abilities. These shows look for {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  talents in different areas like singing, dancing, and magic. They attract a lot of people who want to show their skills.

However, not everyone likes these shows. Some people think that the {#blank#}2{#/blank#}of the performers are not real. They might say they are poor farmers, but {#blank#}3{#/blank#} they are just actors pretending to be something they are not.

But if you don't take these shows too {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, they can be a lot of fun to watch. The best part is that they give people a chance to make their {#blank#}5{#/blank#} come true. So, talent shows are a way for people to enjoy and support others' talents.

First，you have to decide who can become your friends. You can make friends with those who have the same interests as you. When friendship begins, you'd better plan activities that you'll both enjoy. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Second，start a good talk. You can ask your new friends questions like these, "{#blank#}3{#/blank#}""What's your hobby?" "What do you do after school?" Then you will have a good relationship with your friends. 

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} When your classmates are in trouble，offer as much help as possible. For example，you can lend a pen to your new deskmate. You can also care for a classmate who doesn't feel well. 

Fourth，the best way to make true friends is being honest. You won't feel comfortable when you lie(说谎) to your friends. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}That's because you don't want to hurt your friends' feelings. But in most situations，you are expected to be honest with your friends.
