A few years ago we moved to a new city, so I had to change schools. On the first day at my new school, I was really {#blank#}1{#/blank#} . I found it hard to make new friends and hardly said a word to anyone for {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . When the morning break started, I went outside and stood on my own. I was feeling really lonely. Towards the end of break, a girl walked up to me. She introduced {#blank#}3{#/blank#} as Monica and started chatting right away. She was also quite new at the school and we soon {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we had a lot in common. We watched the same TV shows, listened to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} types of music, and we were both learning to play the guitar. Also, we lived just a few minutes' walk from each other! 

Monica and I have been really good friends since that day. Naturally we sometimes argue like everyone does but we're very close. 

Do you have a friend with an interesting background? Today, I'd like to tell you about a friend of m{#blank#}1{#/blank#} with it. I'll tell you a bit about her, such as where she's from and why we're good friends.

You know, I didn't use to do s{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. However, a couple of years ago, I j{#blank#}3{#/blank#} a fitness club. There, I met Linda. After the exercise, we had coffee together and b{#blank#}4{#/blank#} good friends soon. I think we have a lot in c{#blank#}5{#/blank#} —we both like to keep fit and love trying different food. And we love the ocean; in summer, we like to play at the b{#blank#}6{#/blank#} and go swimming there. Linda was b{#blank#}7{#/blank#} in London, but has lived in China for ten years. So she can s{#blank#}8{#/blank#} both Chinese and English. That's something different about us. Another d{#blank#}9{#/blank#} is her background—Linda has experience and knowledge of two cultures.

So, now you know a bit about my friend Linda. Although we might not always live in the same city in the f{#blank#}10{#/blank#}, I think we'll stay friends forever.

It's Sunday morning. My family are all {#blank#}1{#/blank#} home. My father is watching TV. He likes watching TV and cooking. My mother is cleaning the rooms.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} are my sisters? Oh, look! Lily is over there. She is drawing a picture. She{#blank#}3{#/blank#} drawing very much. Lucy is in her room. She is writing a letter to her friend. Lucy likes orange. Autumn is her favourite {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. What about me? I'm doing my homework. I like reading and writing. I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my family.

In our school, all students have their favourite subjects. But students in different grades like different subjects.

In Grade Seven, students' favourite subject is always Chinese, because it's their mother tongue. They like PE and music, too. Students at this age like playing sports. Why is music welcome? Because most of them think music is relaxing.

In Grade Eight, some students like maths very much. But they aren't very good at maths, because maths in Grade Eight is a little difficult. They also like science and geography. They can learn a lot from science, and they seem(似乎) to go around China in geography classes.

In Grade Nine, English is some students' favourite subject. It's useful. Students often talk with friends in English. They also watch English movies to learn English.

How do you study every day? You may answer it in one second: have classes at school, take notes and do homework. Feeling a little bored? There are other ways that can make learning interesting and varied(多样化). It's called digital learning. 

Digital learning is a way to help students learn by using the Internet. There are three main kinds of digital learning. Apps are software applications(应用). People can download them on their mobiles. The other two are social networking services, including Weibo and WeChat, and websites. Each one of them is like your teacher. They help you master what you learn at school. 

Compared with traditional learning ways, digital learning has its advantages. Digital learning is varied. It covers almost every school subject. More importantly, it always offers students the newest resources(资源) to learn from. 

Digital learning is also personalized. You can choose what you like to learn. If you don't master what you have learned at school, you can learn again through digital ways. 

However, digital learning also has disadvantages. When you use digital ways to learn, you've got little chance of talking with teachers and classmates. As digital learning uses computers or smartphones, watching the screen too long may be bad for your eyes. It is better to take a rest every 20 minutes.
