The Clean Your Plate Campaign began on the Internet in January, 2013. It calls on people to reduce food waste. China in recent years has experienced serious problems with wasted food. CCTV reported in January that the food Chinese people waste every year is enough to feed 200 million people for a year.

Chinese people are well—known for their friendly behavior towards guests. Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food.

It's important for everyone to reduce food waste. However, wasting food is still a serious problem in China. We still have a long way to go.

President Xi Jinping is encouraging people to be less wasteful, and he told Party members to cut    back on wasteful holiday banquets(宴会). He said they should be more careful when spending the____people's money.

Wasting food certainly goes against what Xi Jinping calls,"the Chinese tradition of being hardworking and thrifty(节俭)."Having a "clean plate" is just a traditional and important thing to do.

①We know that with thousands of years of developing, people are becoming better at languages. But at the same time, language can also affect(影响) us in different aspects(方面).

②First, many studies on bilingual(双语) people show that when people change between two languages, they must think more actively than just using one, especially in the prefrontal cortex. This part at the very front of our br aın is important for handling(处理) information. And bilinguals learn new languages faster. Bilingualism might make the brain stronger. One researcher found that lifelong bilinguals often get brain illnesses later than those who know only one language. Another study shows that bilinguals get well sooner.

③Language can also affect how we see the world. Studies show that English speakers think of time from back to front. But Chinese speakers think of time in the opposite way. A study found that Greek speakers could find out different colours of blue faster and better than English speakers. People who speak languages like Spanish and French may connect words with men or women traits(性状).

④What's more, language might shape(塑造) our personality(个性). Bilinguals sometimes describe the same picture differently depending on the language they use. Studies also show that bilingual children are better at understanding others' ideas.

⑤In short, language seems to have a bigger affect on us. The more languages we learn, the cleverer we might be. There's still a lot to learn.

In China, many people eat dumplings for breakfast, and even for lunch and dinner. Yesterday I decided to make this delicious food for my family. This is my first time to make dumplings, so rolling dumpling wrappers （擀饺子皮）and making stuffing（馅）were difficult for me. 

Step 1 Some meat, one cabbage and one carrot were necessary. 

Step 2 To go with the stuffing, Mom asked me to cut up the meat and vegetables into small pieces so that I could easily make the stuffing with those pieces by adding salt and pepper. 

Step 3 I put the finished stuffing in a bowl. 

Step 4 I was going to make the dough. （面团）

Step 5 I cut the large pieces of dough into many small pieces, and the roll them into thin, round ones. 

Step 6 I put the stuffing in the center of a dumplingwrapper one by one with a spoon， and then folded（对折）thcm up. 

Step 7 Put the dumplings into a pot of water and cooked thein for a few minutes. 

In this way, I cooked delicious dumplings. 

Although it was difficult for me to make dumplings for the first time, with the help and warm encouragement （鼓励）of my family， I found the fun of cooking and thought it was a fresh and interesting experience.
