Sometimes we may think something stops {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(we) from moving forward. But in fact(事实上), it might be the thing that supports us the most.

Throughout the year, 1 school organizes charity (慈善) events and activities. One of 2 events of the year is the food drive. So far, this 3 a very successful charity event and most of the students have taken part in it. Each school does its food drives 4 . However, most of the time the food drives are set up in a similar style. 

In my school it usually lasts for 5 weeks. Students will bring the food 6 home. The food 7 for a long period of time, such as canned goods and pastas. We 8 organize activities outside the school. Some students go door to door around their neighborhood asking if people are willing to donate (捐献) some food. Some set up donation boxes in churches and 9 areas such as stores or cinemas. The students all work really hard and the members of the community are very supportive. 

After that time is over, we will bring the collected food to our local Community Table. The families in our community can go for 10 warm meal if they need to. Usually, a group of students go with one of our teachers to send the food. I 11 food with our teacher last year, and I was 12 to see so many families who suffering from hunger in our community. 

I was glad that our school was able 13 all of those families. We do this several times each year. 14 meaningful event! Sure, we can't change the world, 15 we can do our best to make our world a better place.

Jessi Meeks says every day, her three kids get an hour where they get to do "whatever" they want. She calls it "whatever-makes-you-happy hour".

Meeks' idea arose naturally from one of her kids' suggestions. "One afternoon, the kids were outside painting and my husband and I were trying to talk and carry on a conversation. My oldest son Cannon looked at me and asked, "Can I paint my hands? And I was like, ‘Whatever makes you happy. You all just do it and be quiet so Mommy and Daddy can talk to each other,'" Meeks recalls. "And from then on, around that same time of the day, they would ask if they could do something and we'd be like, ‘Sure, whatever makes you happy.'"

But Meeks also sets necessary boundaries (界限). "If they start hurting themselves or hurting each other, we step in," she adds,"And we don't let them watch TV."

Meeks believes the hour of free playtime has been beneficial for her kids. If they make a big mess, she thinks it's a good chance to teach little ones the practice of tidying up. At the same time, it's also a great way to allow time for them to explore and play the way they want.

"Even though the kids make a mess at times, it has worked out well for everyone in my family," Meeks says. She views "whatever-makes-you-happy hour" as a daily period to make new memories and build a good family relationship.

My Good Friend

I have a good friend. 

Usually I wouldn't cross the park at this time of night. But walking around the park would take more time, and it was raining so hard that I couldn't even see clearly what was right before me. So I entered the park. And that was the first stupid thing I did tonight. 

Soon after I walked into the park, I saw a man under a tree up ahead. My heart fell. The stories I'd heard about the park were all coming into my head at this moment. Anyone with a clear mind would just turn back. But me? No. I did another stupid thing: I decided to hurry past him. 

Just when I was passing the man, he raised his head and gave me the strangest smile ever. I got scared and started running. "Hey!"the man shouted from behind. "Wait! "He was running after me! 

I ran like crazy. I had hoped the trees would keep some rain off. And they did. But they also madethe park look even darker. I couldn't see what was ahead of me. Then, I ran into something. It was the man! 

"Don't kill me!"I cried. 

"What? I was trying to give back your bag! You dropped it."The man gave me my bag. 

Now, I felt saying that to the man was the stupidest thing I did tonight.
