How do you deal with the difficulties you meet? For some people, they always tell themselves, "I can't do it." Is that right? After a special lesson, I found my 1 .

One day, our teacher Donna asked us to fill a paper with something we couldn't do. We were 2 at first but followed her. A student beside me wrote on his page, "I can't make a choice between staying at home and going out." I also began my 3 . So did Donna and even the things—"I can't let every student 4 reading…". We first knew that she had the same "Can'ts".

Then Donna asked us to fold the paper and place our "I Can'ts" papers into an empty box. She took the 5 and we followed her to the corner of the playground. "Today we'll bury (掩埋) our ‘I Can'ts'!" Donna said. 6 the hole was about three feet, the digging ended. Thirty-one students stood there to see "I Can'ts" disappearing 7 making any sound. Some students asked Donna why we did this.

Donna said that we shouldn't repeat our "Can'ts" because they 8 stop us from moving forward. A more useful way is to keep 9 . "I Can'ts" should give way to "I Cans". Maybe someday, with our "I Cans", we will make an even bigger mark on the world. Then we may not 10 that how great changes have taken place to us and the people around us.

When my friend suggested that we join the new Tai Chi (太极拳) Club, I thought he was 1 . I always believed tai chi was for old people. However, after the first class, I 2 that I was wrong. It was amazing. Tai chi led to a big 3 both in my body and mind.

I discovered tai chi is deeply from Chinese yin and yang. The practice of it helps to keep a balance through 11 : left and right, up and 12 , breathing in and breathing out... Finally, tai chi brings about a state of body balance and 13 peace.

Now I can honestly say it helps me become much 14 . I sleep better at night, and I am more active during the day. More importantly, practicing tai chi has made me better 15 the Chinese culture. I am sure I will continue to practice tai chi and enjoy the advantages it has brought me.

Two students were asked to meet their teacher at the end of a forest.There were two paths.One was short and easy, and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}other full of fallen trees.One student chose the easy one.He felt he was clever as he walked through without {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He finished first and felt proud of {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.The second student chose to take time to jump over every fallen tree in his path. After{#blank#}4{#/blank#}at the finish line, he felt tired and regretted choosing that path. The teacher nodded and smiled at them both. He asked them to get a prize by a river in three days.

When the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}arrived, they were {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to hear that they needed to jump over a river which was a few meters wide. The teacher said, "Everything that you have done until now should have prepared you for this moment. This is a jump which will lead you to greatness."The first student walked away immediately, as he knew that he hadn't prepared well{#blank#}7{#/blank#}for the jump. The second student looked at his teacher, ashamed of his former(先前的) regret. He knew now by choosing to deal{#blank#}8{#/blank#}challenges instead of avoiding them,he was ready{#blank#}9{#/blank#}the jump.He ran towards the river and jumped as far{#blank#}10{#/blank#}he can. And he made it!

Carnival( 狂 欢 节 ) does not take place only in Louisiana. There are many celebrations around the world. 

In Brazil, the celebration goes on from the Saturday before Mardi Gras(大斋节前的最后一天)to Mardi Gras Day, but in some Brazilian cities the celebration can last seven or eight days. Just like New Orleans, not many important things are decided in Brazil from New Year's Day to Mardi Gras Day because everyone is preparing for or celebrating carnival. Most Brazilian parades have a topic, which could be political or historical. The parades had to have a topic tied to Brazil until 1996. Some cities in Brazil do not have a street carnival, but they might have an indoor party. 

Bolivia has carnival parades( 游 行 )for children and then more parades for adults. The children dress up in costumes and walk in the streets. The adults make traditional dance groups and dance in the streets. But the main part of Bolivia's carnival is getting wet. Almost everyone gets wet from water balloons and water buckets. In Oruru, Bolivia, their carnival is held in the last ten days of the carnival season. People there join in dancing, but their main carnival event is a ceremonial parade that lasts for twenty hours and parades for four kilometers. Over 20, 000 dancers are involved as well as 10, 000 musicians. This parade attracts at least 400, 000 people. 

The carnival in Venice, Italy is often regarded as the most carefully prepared carnival and lasts ten days before Lent( 大斋节). Many events are held in the canals including shows, concerts, dances and water processions. The official ending to the celebration is the party held in St. Mark's Square. 

The policeman slowly walked along the street. It was about ten o'clock at night. The wind and light rain had kept most people at home. 

Halfway down the street, the policeman saw a man leaning against(斜靠着) a door, with an unlighted cigar(雪茄) in his mouth. As the policeman walked up to him, the man spoke quickly. "It's all right, officer, " he said. "I'm just waiting here for an old friend. It's an appointment（约会） that was made twenty years ago. You think it funny to plan a meeting like this, don't you?"

The man lit (点燃) his cigar. The light showed a pale, square-jawed face with keen eyes. He was very well-dressed. 

"Twenty years ago tonight, " the man went on, "I had dinner at a restaurant nearby with my friend Jimmy Wells. I was going to the West to try my luck, but Jimmy wanted to stay. We agreed to meet here again exactly twenty years for that date and time. That's why I'm here. "

"What happened to your friend?" asked the policeman. 

"I'm not sure, " said the man. "We wrote to each other for a while and then stopped. But I'm sure if he is alive, he will keep his promise. We said we would meet at ten o'clock. "

"OK, I'll be on my way. Good night. " The policeman continued on his way, Bob waited about twenty minutes. Then, a tall man went straight to the waiting man. 

"Is that you, Bob?" asked the newcomer. "Is that you, Jimmy?" cried the man in the door. "You've grown so tall. Let me have a good look at you. You don't look anything like Jimmy. " "You're right, " said the tall man. "I'm a police officer. You are wanted by the New York police. But, before we go to the police station, here's a note from your friend Jimmy Wells. "

I was on my way to meet you as we had planned. However, when you lit your cigar, I saw it was the face of a man that is wanted by the police. Somehow, I couldn't do it myself. So I sent another police officer to do the job.
