XBOX 360 Kinetic, RoboSapien, WiiParty, theseare just a few of the modern toys sold in recent years. But some of the most populartoys are actually quite old.

Gameshave been around for thousands of years. In 4000 B. C, Babylonians played a boardgame that was similar to chess. Yo-yos made of stone were first used in ancientGreece around 1000 B C. And kites appeared in China around the same time.

    Another famous game is Scrabble. It was inventedby an architect in the 1930s, but it didn't get popular until 1953 And since then,more than 100 million sets have been sold worldwide.

    As you can imagine, toys and games are a multi-billion-dollarindustry. Mr. Potato Head, the first toy advertised on TV, grossed more than $4million in its first year. Play-Doh made its inventor Joseph McVicker a millionaireby his 27th birthday, while Mattel sells 1. 5 million Barbie dolls each week (that'stwo dolls each second!).

    Some toys go out of fashion, but then becomepopular again, such as Rubik's Cube. Research says parents are increasingly choosingto buy toys they remember from their own childhood.

    These days, toys are not just for fun. RoboSapienis a remote-controlled robot that was launched in 2004. He can walk, turn aroundand do other poses. RoboSapien was designed by Mark Tilden, who once created robotsfor NASA space missions. He expected the toy to be used mostly by and scientists,but almost 2 million RoboSapiens have been sold worldwide since its launch as atoy?

As is known, to, all, early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise We all need to sleep well, though the sleeping hours are different from person to person. Doctors do not know why we need sleep, but they all agree that sleep is very important to us. Without enough sleep, the body may be weak.

One-third of adults have sleeplessness. There are over 80 kinds of sleep-related disorders（失调）. If you have sleeplessness, here are a few suggestions.

1. Make a timetable, and stick to it.

We need to sleep at regular times. If your bedtime and wake-up time change from day to day or on weekends, your sleep rhythms（节奏）aren't predicted and the body doesn't know how to act. So it's important to have a regular. wake-up time, even on weekends, vacations or after a night of poor sleep.

2. Don't lie in bed awake.

"The best sleep tip you can give somebody is to get up—don't lie in bed awake," sleep expert Grandner said. "Whether. it's the beginning of the night or the middle of the night. if, you've been awake for.20 or 30 minutes, get up and reset:（重新调整）. Maybe you just need five minutes to get sleepy, or maybe an hour, but don't spend that time awake in bed."

3. Change your thinking about sleep.

"Many people regard sleeping as the final thing they have to do for daily activities. They would like to work or watch TV very late rather than sleep on time. That thinking needs to be changed."Grandner said.

"Don't see your sleep as the time you have left in your day," he advised. "See your sleep as the time you need in order to prepare yourself for an. energetic.（精力充沛的）tomorrow."

"It may sound like a small change in thinking, but it's an important one." Grandner added.

The history of tea begins with Shennong. Legend said that tea was discovered by Shennong in 2, 732 B. C/by accident. At the beginning, tea was used as a medicine to make people stay awake. Tea became a wider drink in people's everyday life in the Tang Dynasty. A lot of tea trees were planted in many places and the tea culture developed fast. The Song Dynasty is another important period for the development of tea. Tea became a symbol of spirituality（精神） and books, poems, and paintings about tea were popular in the whole country. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, people could plant tea trees freely. There were more kinds of tea including green tea, flower tea, oolong tea and black tea. The making process of tea had been improved and it also influenced the drinking styles of tea. 

Over the long history of tea drinking, a special Chinese tea culture formed. When we talk about Chinese tea culture today, we shouldn't miss Lu Yu, "the Sage of Tea" for his achievements in Chinese tea culture. Lu Yu wrote Cha Jing between 760 and 780. The book describes early Tang Dynasty tea culture and explains how to grow and prepare tea. 

Tea culture has come a long way and continues to be a valuable tradition. Tea is always made and offered to a guest or friend in China. Serving tea is more than a matter of politeness, it is a symbol of togetherness and a sharing of something enjoyable. 

Tea has played an important role in shaping the traditions and customs of many cultures. For example, in Europe, tea has become a beloved cultural tradition, and the tradition of afternoon tea remains a popular part of European culture.

Hello, everyone. I'm Li Hua from Class 1, Grade 7.

James Cleveland Owens was the son of a farmer and the grandson of black slaves. His family moved to Cleveland when he was 9. There, a school teacher asked the youth his name.

"J. C.," he replied.

She thought he had said "Jesse", and he had a new name.

Owens ran his first race at age 13. After high school, he went to Ohio State University. He had to work part time so as to pay for his education. As a second-year student, in the Big Ten games in 1935, he set even more records than he would in the Olympic Games a year later.

A week before the Big Ten meet, Owens accidentally fell down the stairs. His back hurt so much that he could not exercise all week, and he had to be helped in and out of the car that drove him to the meet. He refused to listen to the suggestions that he give up and said he would try, event by event. He did try, and the results are in the record book.

The stage was set for Owens' victory at the Olympic Games in Berlin the next year, and his success would come to be regarded as not only athletic but also political. Hitler did not congratulate any of the African-American winners.

"It was all right with me," he said years later. "I didn't go to Berlin to shake hands with him, anyway."

Having returned from Berlin, he received no telephone calls from the president of his own country, either. In fact, he was not honored by the United States until 1976, four years before his death.

Owens' Olympic victories made little difference to him. He earned his living by looking after a school playground, and accepted money to race against cars, trucks, motorcycles, and dogs.

"Sure, it bothered me," he said later. "But at least it was an honest living. I had to eat."

In time, however, his gold medals changed his life. "They have kept me alive over the years," he once said. "Time has stood still for me. That golden moment dies hard."
