Emma was dreaming. In her dream, she was sitting on a train. A boy next to her asked her, "Excuse me, do you know {#blank#}1{#/blank#}the train will get to London?"Emma didn't have a watch so she didn't know how she {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(can) answer his question. She was about to ask her sister Annie when she heard someone waking her up. It was Annie.

"It's too late, Emma! Get up!" Then Emma had to get up.

Annie liked making plans. At the breakfast table, she asked Emma to write down what she {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(have to) do today. "The mouse problem is serious. Could you tell me {#blank#}4{#/blank#}You'll deal with(处理) it today?"

"Yes! Mousetraps(老鼠夹) can kill mice. So after breakfast I'll go and buy one,"answered Emma.

"On the sofa? No,"Emma said to herself."In the bookcase?"

Emma didn't hear {#blank#}8{#/blank#}Annie said. She couldn't stop yawning(打哈欠). From far away she could hear the boy say, "Your dictionary is next to your pillow (枕头)."Hearing that, Emma smiled.

Liu Yaxuan is totally a homebody. Every weekend, this 14-year-old student from Tsinghua High School watches popular TV dramas and plays with her mobile phone. She hates playing outdoor sports."It's too tiring,"she said.

She is not alone. In recent years, more and more Chinese teenagers are becoming homebodies. A 2013 survey of kids aged 2 to 14 showed about half of them spend less than one hour doing outdoor activities every day.

To some extent, heavy academic pressure (学业压力) caused this situation. Hu Huilan, 12, from Shenzhen Nanshan Language School, is busy with piles of homework and extra classes on weekends."I don't want to get behind,"she said.

Even if this isn't a problem, kids still prefer indoor life. Wang Yidi, 12, from Anhui No. 50 Middle School, often reads Harry Potter, listens to music and surfs the Internet at home."I can do so many things I like at home rather than hang out in smoggy weather,"she said.

But this causes bad health conditions. Chinese teenagers' physical conditions have been dropping for about 28 years, reported a newspaper last year.

The situation for teenagers should be changed. They should spend their free time outdoors even if it just means going to the park or reading a book under the tree. Nice weather, little homework and rich outdoor activities enable them to do that. It helps them stay energetic.

Once I got lost in the forest with my father. The sky got dark and we were worried，for it was our first time walking into that forest.

We didn't have any tools to show us the direction. My father and I had no choice but to put up a tent near a river to spend the night. When night fell, the stars came out, lighting the whole sky. That was when an idea came to my mind. As a member of the Astronomy (天文学) Club in school, I was able to tell different groups of stars in the sky. If we could find the North Star, we could find out which direction was north.

After I picked out the North Star, we found the north direction. We walked north and then saw a house. We went to the owner of the house to ask for directions. With his help, we made our way out of the forest. From this experience, I learned how important it is to use the knowledge that we have got to solve the problems we meet.

 Betty and Carl wanted to go on a holiday. They chose a place called Maldives(马尔代夫). And they decided to 1 there for two weeks in spring, because they heard that the weather there was 2 at that time. They worked very hard for several3 . At last, they made enough money for their 4 trip. But their trip was more like a nightmare(噩梦)!

 This summer, when I walked into my grandparents' house with my little sister Nancy, I tried not to look at my Grandpa's chair. It still looked the same. His blue1 was there, just like he was going to pull it over his legs. My cousin Jack was playing in the yard just like 2 happened. "Let' s go to catch fish!" Jack said when he was 3 the fish net(网) from the corner, Grandpa's net.

 Last summer,I was holding the net when Grandpa asked me to help 4 teach Nancy to play chess. I said no because I wanted to catch fish. Grandpa always took us to catch fish, but then the5 stopped him.

 Now I wouldn't have chance to play chess with him again. I6 saying no to Grandpa and felt sorry.

 When we got to the river, we began to catch fish. Suddenly, Jack shouted, "Nancy is shaking!" We didn't bring anything to keep warm 7 I had to take her home.

 Grandma was worried to see a wet Nancy and8 put Grandpa's blue coat around her. As I went to the river again to meet Jack, I looked back at Nancy with that old coat. Something seemed to hit me9 that moment. Everything was just like before, but Grandpa was gone.

I walked to Nancy. "Did Grandpa teach you to play chess last summer?" I asked. "No, Grandpa was too sick." she said, "I miss him."

"Me too." When I said it, I knew Grandpa was never gone. Something 10 was still there. It could be the fish net. It could be the chess. It could be the blue coat.
