    Zhao Qi is a Chinese girl. She is thirteen years old, too. She is my good {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Her father is a teacher in our school. Loni loved her town where she lived with her grandma，From their window，Loni and her grandma watched people walk and run along the1 street.At the crossing.a guide dog was helping its owner2 the street." Grandma，I love living here.I hope our town will never3 ." said Loni.

Once upon a time，there was a very bad man.When he saw people 1 happily，he became angry.What he hated most was when people were polite to each other，saying words like "please" and "thanks".2 ，he didn't use sentences like "Excuse me，could you please tell me how to get to the bookstore？" He thought all the kind and polite words were useless.So he 3 with a plan.He decided to invent a 4 which could steal words.With this machine，he would be able to steal "excuse me"，"please"，"sorry"，and5 words which people used to be polite.Finally，he made it.When people said kind and polite words，nothing came out.All those words were stolen by the "bad" machine.It seemed that people really didn't need to be polite.

However，after a few days，everyone began to argue with others and people got6 easily.

The bad man was glad about his 7 .However，there were some "special" girls.They were unable to 8 ，so they had to communicate by using sign language（手语）.They were 9 kind and polite because the "bad" machine couldn't steal gestures（手势）.Soon they10 what had been happening to everyone else.They followed the bad man，found the "bad" machine and broke it.After that，people began to say kind and polite words again.

Tyler was a troublesome student. He sat in the back row. Every time I asked him to answer questions, he'd reply with a flip(轻率的) answer. If he got it wrong, he would get very angry. 

Usually kids could sit quietly in class. However, Tyler was just noisy. One day, Tyler was talking while I was teaching. I said to him, "Tyler, why not join in our discussion instead of having one of your own?" He got up from his chair, pushed it over, and shouted something I can't remember. I sent him to the office and he received a week's out-of-school punishment. 

The week was a wonderful time for me, but when it came to an end, I began to feel worried. So I came up with a plan. On the day of his return, I told him I wanted to start over with him. If he felt like he was going to lose control in class, he could step outside the door for a moment. 

From then on, Tyler was a changed student in my classroom. In fact he was a smart child and he even stopped a fight between two students one day. And he never used the privilege(特权) to leave the class for a moment. I believe that just letting him decide for himself made all the difference. 

When the year was over, he wrote me a thank-you note about how good the year had been for him. I still have it today and find it very moving to reread when I get worried about teaching. 

This year a new TV program called Young at Heart came out in the UK. The program matched teenagers with old people, and asked them to meet twice a week for two months. Two of these pairs were Amelia Ross and Mary Edwards.

Mary is a 76-year-old retired(退休的) nurse. She lives by herself. She likes meeting new people and keeping healthy, so she goes to dancing classes twice a week. Amelia is a 14-year-old student. She loves music and wants to be a singer. In her free time, she likes talking with her friends on her phone and playing her guitar. She doesn't like sports.

Before Mary met Amelia, she didn't like teenagers very much. She thought they spent too much time on their phones. As for Amelia, she thought that old people were boring and strict.

When they met for the TV program, Mary was surprised that Amelia didn't do any exercise, so she invited her to a dancing class and prepared her a dancing dress. Amelia didn't really want to go, but she had a great time. Mary is really outgoing and they laughed a lot together. 

Later Amelia found out that Mary had a mobile phone but didn't know how to use it. It was still in the box! Amelia showed her how to watch videos and listen to music online. Mary didn't like the same songs as Amelia, but she enjoyed finding out new music styles. In one episode(集) of the program, she asked Amelia to sing for her. Amelia was a bit shy, but she agreed. Mary loved her voice and said she should join in the school talent show. Amelia followed this advice. It was a good idea because she won first prize! 

By the end of the program, Amelia and Mary were good friends. Amelia still goes to the dancing classes and Mary is an expert with her phone now. They say they plan to meet every week in the future.
