Zhi Nong was born in a small town in Yunnan Province. When he was young, he moved to Kunming with his mother. Feeling like a caged (笼中的) bird in a big city, he was bored with the busy and noisy city life and looked forward to nature. 

His chance soon came. In 1983, he helped shoot (拍摄) a documentary about birds. That experience led him to learn photography and take photos of flying birds. 

In the 1980s, the Internet was not that popular in China and cameras were expensive. He managed to borrow a camera and threw himself into studying how to use it. During that time, the library became his favorite place where he first read some magazines about nature. It opened a door for him to connect with nature. 

In 1992, a research program was set up to protect a type of unusual monkeys which only live in China. Usually, the home of these monkeys has half-a-year-long winters. It created great challenges for Zhi Nong's work, but he never drew back. "I didn't see the monkeys in the wild until I went into the mountains the third time," said Zhi Nong. He went into the snow mountains six times just to get valuable photographs of monkeys. 

Three years later, his works won international prizes. People around the world began to pay attention to the protection of wild animals in China. And he is the first Chinese winner of the world Wildlife Photographer of the Year. 

In order to call up tons of people to protect wildlife with cameras, he started "China Wildlife Photography Training. Camp". He hopes that more young people will join in for the nature protection. 

Little George lived in a poor village. One summer afternoon, George's mother sent him to the field to pick up some dried wood for the fire.

By the time the sun was high, George was very 1 and wished for a cool place to rest and have some food. As he walked on, he found some shade (阴凉处), and by it were some fine, wild 2 .

"How good these will be with my bread and butter," thought George. He 3 all of the strawberries and couldn't wait to lift one of them to his mouth. Suddenly he remembered his sick 4 , alone in her dark, cold room in the village.

With this in mind, he put the strawberry back again. "Shall I save them for her?" he asked himself. He thought how refreshing (提神的) they would be for her, 5 was still looking at them with a longing (渴望的) eye. "I will eat half, and take 6 half to her," he said. He divided them into two parts, but each part looked so small. He put them together again.

"I will only eat one," he thought.

But, as he again lifted it to his mouth, he saw that he had taken the 7 , and he put it back.

When the sun was beginning to sink, George left for home. How 8 he felt, then, that he had all his strawberries for his sick mother.

He heard his mother's faint (虚弱的) voice calling him. "Is that you, George? I'm glad you've 9 . I'm thirsty, and am longing for some tea."

George ran to her and joyfully offered the strawberries.

"And you saved them for your sick mother, didn't you?" she said, laying her hand 10 on his head, with tears in her eyes.

Last Tuesday was a good day. The sun was high in the sky and the sky was very blue. Tom said goodbye to his parents and then took a bus to school for an exam. The exam was important to him. His parents expected him to get a good grade and hoped that he would get a place at a top university. Suddenly （突然） a lorry （货运汽车） stopped in front of the bus. Although the bus driver tried his best to stop，the bus still went into the lorry. There was a terrible noise. Luckily no one was hurt （受伤的） in the accident （事故）. Tom got off the bus. He felt a little. "What should I do if I can't get to the exam on time？"he said to himself. A policeman saw Tom and asked him whether （是否） he was OK. Tom told the policeman that he would take a very important exam at 9：00 a. m. and now it was already 8：40 a. m. The policeman picked up his phone and asked a police car to come at once. When it arrived，he asked the driver to take Tom to school as fast as he could. Tom arrived at school five minutes before the exam started. So Tom was able to take the exam on time. 

I was two at that time and I was sitting on the balcony(阳台) with my 83-year-old great- grandma. When mom walked up to call us in for1 , great-grandma looked up at her and said, "I' d like to watch the sunset before we go inside. It's a day in my life that is now gone. I want to2 it until the very last minute. "

 Scientists explain that the first seven years of your childhood are 3 to how you develop through your teenage and adult life. They make a point that our family members and communities in the first seven years can4 on what we believe and how we think and act. 

 Perhaps that's why I grew up to fall in love with sunsets. When I think of that day, I smile and feel 5 . Because as I was just a baby, the 6 who was writing the last few pages of her story sewed(缝) the meaning of life deep within the fabric(织物) of my thoughts. 

 The sunset tells a story, 7 a picture of the path ahead. It reminds you that all great things are in a process of rising and returning. And, 8 you' re lucky, the sun will rise again in the morning to gift you with a new day, as will it return, taking back with it a day from your life. 

 So, what's the meaning of life? To answer that question let's go back to my great-grandma's9 . The meaning of life is to make every day count 10 you can. It's to be alive. It's to do what good you can with it. It's to find peace within the process of rising and returning. 

One day, New York was struck(侵袭) by a terrible rainstorm. The streets were full 1  water and the underground system almost came to a stop. 

Unluckily, this happened during the morning rush hours. Many people who were going to work were 2  to go home. Some tried their best to 3  a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the storm 4 . walking miles to get to work. 

I happened to be one of the people on the way to work that morning. I went from an underground line to another only to find that most service had 5 . After making my way through crowds of people, I finally found an underground line that was 6 . 

However, there were so many people waiting to 7  the underground that I could not even get down the stairs to the 8 . So I took the train going in the 9  direction, and then turned back to the downtown train. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the train 10  my stop. Then I had to walk several blocks in the heavy rain. 11  I finally got to my office, I was tired. And I was totally 12  through. 

My co-workers and I spent most of the day drying off. 

When it was 5:00 pm, I was ready to go home. I was going to 13  off my computer when I received an email from Garth, my director: I would like to thank all of you who had the 14  and finally came to work. It is always reassuring(令人感到宽慰的), at times like these, when workers so clearly show their attention and devotion(奉献) to their 15 . Thank you.
