    In my life, the person who has influenced me most is my father. He is a role model for me. Now I'll tell you something about him. My father is in his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fifty). He never smokes or drinks. He{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(work) in a local factory for years. You will not find anything{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(usual) about him until you learn more. He works{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(care) all the time, so he{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(respect) by his colleagues. My father has always been kind and helpful. He has fun{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(talk) with old people. He gave our TV to a family who could not afford one. He cares for the children who have lost their parents. Whenever he has some money left, he {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(give) it to someone in need.

    My father has donated blood many times since we{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(move) here. The blood he has donated is much enough{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(save) over 70 lives. He has donated blood cells to people with blood cancer. To my surprise, he has decided to donate his body for medical research after his{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(die).

    When I was a little girl, I could not understand why my father always seemed to be{#blank#}11{#/blank#}(kind) to others than to his own families and why he thinks of others more than{#blank#}12{#/blank#}(he). Now I realise that he owns a heart full of love.

Mount Qomolangma is the highest mountain in the world. It is in Asia, which is home to all five of the world's highest mountains. Mount Qomolangma's peak (顶峰) is 5.5 miles above sea level. That is very high! So many climbers have tried to climb to the top of it to prove (证明) themselves. The first people to reach the peak were Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Since then, thousands of people have succeeded in climbing to the peak of Mount Qomolangma.

One of the most successful climbers is Erik Weihenmayer. Like all who try to climb this huge mountain, Erik faced strong winds, snow, and avalanches (雪崩). However, what really made Erik's climb unbelievable is the fact that he can't see anything. After losing his vision (视力) at age 13, Erik began climbing at age 16. He has climbed the tallest mountains on all seven continents (大陆). Erik became the first blind person to reach the peak of Mount Qomolangma.

At the age of 32, Erik began his climb as part of a 19-member team. His team wore bells (铃) that he could follow during his climb, and teammates were quick to warn him of such things as a big drop on the right or a rock to the left. Erik also used long climbing poles (爬杆) and an ice ax (冰斧) to feel his way across the ice, rock, and snow on the mountain.

During his climb, Erik faced many dangers. The higher Erik climbed, the thinner the air became, so he wore an oxygen mask. This helped him breathe (呼吸) as he climbed higher and higher. It took Erik about two and a half months to reach the top of this unbelievable mountain.

Lu Yuxin is 13 years old and she is a middle school student from Beijing. She loves paper cutting and her classmates say she is born with the{#blank#}1{#/blank#} （能力）to cut. Lu always {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （联系）paper cutting with her everyday life. During the Olympic Games, Chinese players got many medals. Lu was so excited and {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（自豪的）that she came up with a good idea to express her happiness. She made series of paper cuttings during the "golden moments" of the players whom she thought are {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （民族的）heroes, too. Her paper cutting was{#blank#}5{#/blank#} （传播）on the Internet quickly. And Lu found it really meaningful to pay more {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（关注）to those heroes by paper cutting. 

Each paper cutting brings out the personal ideas of Lu {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（精确地）. Lu was worried about the players and hoped every athletes could{#blank#}8{#/blank#} （保持不变）healthy during the game. 

Lu began to learn the art of paper cutting when she was in a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（当地的）kindergarten. During her primary school years, she went to have art classes {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（几乎）every weekend. She spent most of her free time on paper cuttings. And soon, she was good at making them. 

Lu's parents help to develop her interest in paper cutting. "It's good for children to have an interest and enjoy spending their time and energy on it. " said Lu's mother. 

I am Li Ming, a student in Grade Seven. Linda is one of my good friends at school. We are in the same class. She is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} English girl. She is from London. She isn't heavy or thin. She is of medium build. In class, she usually wears glasses {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she is short-sighted (近视的).

I feel {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (nice) that Linda and I live in the same neighborhood. On weekdays, we often ride our bikes to school together. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} school, we go home together. We talk about many {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (thing) on our way home. She often {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (tell) me something about her hometown London {#blank#}7{#/blank#} asks me to visit it during the summer vacation. Linda likes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sing) and she practices it hard. She often gets the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (one) place in the school singing competitions (比赛). She wants to be a musician when she grows up. I don't think {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is difficult for her to make her dream come true if she works hard.

When we were young, people always liked to question us about what kind of job we wanted to have. And some school students said they wanted to be a scientist, a computer programmer, or a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(飞行员). 

To be honest, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I was a middle school student. My mother wanted me to be a pianist, but I didn't take it {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(严肃地) because I couldn't {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(忍受)practicing it every day. My father wanted me to be an engineer like him, but I thought it was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(毫无意义的). 

Through some years, I went to college to go on my {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(教育). I kept everything in all my {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (日记). At the start of the new term, I got a part-time job at the school radio station. I {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(期待) to discuss the school life with other students and make many friends there. 

Without this working experience, I could never know what I really wanted. 

Four years later, I got a full-time job at our local radio station. I hoped that I could {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(改善)other people's life. So I made a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(承诺) to myself that I would work hard on it and they just did what I advised. My program was quite {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(成功的) and I had lots of fans. I enjoy my job and my life now.
