My teacher said to a student: "Give me your phone."

    We all looked in surprise. Kyle, a student who I never saw text (发信息) in class, gave the teacher his phone.

    When the teacher left, two students who I often saw text in class started boasting (吹牛) about how they sent text messages and never got caught.

    "Kyle, you don't text in class that way!" one of them said. "I put my phone under my desk so it looks like I'm looking at my textbooks."

    "Isn't it funny that we always text and never get caught, but the first time Kyle does it, he gets caught?" the other one laughed.

    They must have thought they were smart, because they never got caught and Kyle did. But which situation is worse: getting caught, or getting away with it? Rules are there for a reason. These two students might not have got caught, but neither of them had good grades. They keep texting in class, not paying any attention. I think they will keep breaking the rules in the future.

    People don't just break the law and get thrown into jail (监狱) right away. They take it one step at a time, starting with smaller rules. Kyle might have got caught, but at least he learned a good lesson. He will not break the rules in the future, so he will learn more in class and stay out of trouble. It's smarter not to break the rules.

    For years I went to school by bus, so I met many "familiar" strangers. We took the same bus but didn't know each other's names. I used to think it was impossible for us to be true friends. How wrong I was! Smiles from the "nameless" people have changed my thought.

    The first time on the bus, I saw different faces. As days went on, we hatted like old friends.

    But I felt it a pity that I was unable to set up the same friendship with a silent girl in the front of the bus. Her old clothing suggested that she didn't have much money, but she always took a cup of water for the driver. I guessed she was a kind girl. But why did she sit in silence instead of talking with us? Why did she never reply to our friendly greetings? Couldn't she smile?

    Then, one evening, I got the answer. I walked to the park nearby and found the girl sitting alone under a tree, lonely and sad. I greeted her with the same warm smile that had shown to her all these months, but this time her face turned red, then a shy smile appeared. As soon as she began her first words, I understood why she hadn't spoken to us before. Talking was hard for her.

    I heard her story. Her parents worked hard somewhere. She lived with her disabled grandparents. She said, "I can't express myself very well. Most of the time, I can't say what I want to say I have no friends but. You always smile at me like an angel… so I also want to smile." That evening, we exchanged our names and we said goodbye like old friends.

    The smile is the key to opening the door of heart; it can break the cold walls in front of us.

    Today is Friday. Peter has six classes today. He goes to school at 7:30 a. m. At 8:00 a. m., he begins his first class. The first class is English. At 9:00 a.m., he has Maths. Peter likes Maths because it's interesting. At 10:00 a. m., he has a biology class. Peter thinks it's very boring. Then at 11:00 a. m., he has a history class. That's his favourite subject. He can learn a lot about the past from History.

    Peter has lunch at school at about 12:00. Then he has a short break. At 1:30 p.m., he has a music class. At 2:30 p.m., he has a PE class. Peter likes this afternoon, because Music and PE are easy and interesting. School is over at 4:00 p.m. Peter is happy because he can go home and have a good time on Saturday and Sunday.

Now Amy and Daniel are coming. They look cool! Amy is wearing a yellow cotton blouse and a blue scarf. Daniel is wearing a blue T-shirt. Both of them are wearing blue jeans (牛仔裤). Young people really like jeans！

Look! Here comes Sandy. She is wearing a red silk blouse, a black wool skirt and a pair of red boots. She looks modern and beautiful!
