Dragons are common in Chinese culture. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. How often do your parents say "wang zi cheng long"? They say it because they want you to be successful. That means you not only have the ability to control your life but also have much time to have fun.

Chinese dragons are not real. They usually have fantastic power like controlling the weather. The Chinese emperors liked dragons very much. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. They hoped they could have the power, too.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. In the West, there is a bad dragon. It has seven heads and eats babies! Western dragons look like dinosaurs. They don't have moustaches, but do have wings. In stories, they spit out (吐出) fire and catch women. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. In one of the Harry Potter stories, Harry Potter has to kill a deadly dragon to get a gold egg.

Because of this, some Chinese experts have advised changing the English word for Chinese dragons to "Loong". They believe the word "dragon" makes western people think badly about China. But some don't agree. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Most western people already know the differences between Chinese dragons and western dragons.

I would like to talk about a useful tool. It has helped us  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  our work. Most of you have used it before. It's a small yellow piece of paper and it is  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}   all over the world. It's the Post-it® note. A Post-it® note is a piece of paper with special glue on the back. You can stick them  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  anything and the note will stay in place. The notes can be removed (撕下) {#blank#}4{#/blank#}   from any surface. Students like to use them  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  traditional notebooks in their daily lives.

Cinyee Chiu, an artist from Taiwan, is always happy to try something new. Her amazing works won lots of prizes. Among them, "24 Solar Terms (节气)" is the most popular.

Ancient Chinese divided a year into 24 parts according to the changes of the weather. It's the 24 solar terms. But not everyone knows them well. Cinyee Chiu put the 24 solar terms in pictures to help people understand them better.

Cinyee turned each solar term into an animal. But these animals are not just animals. You can also find seasonal fruits, vegetables or beautiful flowers on them.

When spring comes, water gets warm and fish start to swim around. So Cinyee chose fish as a symbol of Start of Spring. Also, she drew spring vegetables, Chinese chives (韭菜) on the back of the fish.

White Dew (露珠) falls on about Sept. 8. It shows the beginning of the cool autumn. There are colorful leaves and cooler nights at this time of year. As the temperature falls, white dew is often seen on the grass and trees at night. For White Dew, Cinyee chose a raccoon (浣熊)—a small animal with thick hair. She drew white spots (小圆点) on the raccoon to show dew. And she used the dragon fruit to show the rich colors in autumn.

The young artist really gave the ancient Chinese culture a new look.

Whether we're young or old，rich or poor，we have one thing in common：The moon always looks down at each of us when it lights up the night sky. 

Just like a mirror，the moon reflects the sun's light. It can also reflect people's feelings. This is probably why the moon is always popular among Western and Chinese music，poems and other forms of literature. So when we look at the moon，what exactly do we see looking back at us?

Well，that depends on who's looking. 

The ancient Greek poet(古希腊诗人) Sappho，for example，saw the moon as a woman who lit up space with her beauty. 

Later in England，however，the moon's image(形象) was completely different. In the Middle Ages，English people often drank to get away from difficult life. In their eyes，the moon was a man who liked drinking. In London，at least three pubs(酒馆) were named Man in the Moon. It's probably because the bright moon at night looks like a man's red face after drinking. A popular song sung in the pubs at that time even went，"Our man in the moon drinks wine…"

__▲__ Chinese Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai's Quiet Night Thought reads，"I look up to the mountain moon，and then I look down and think of home. " Similarly，Zhang Jiuling wrote in another poem，"Looking at the moon and thinking of one far away. " So in Chinese culture，when people look at the moon，they may miss their hometown and someone. Very interesting，right?
