Qi Haoran. a middle school student, was quito busy last winter vacation and not just with his homework. Qi, together with 10 other classmates, made a volunteer group to call on people to join the Clear Your Plate Campaign(光盘行动).

The 11 students went to many restaurants and told people the importance of saving food." Excuse me, do you know that 950 million people around the world still haven't got enough to eat? Please don't waste food." They would repeat such words hundreds of times every day.

China in recent years has experienced serious problems with wasting food. CCTV has reported that the food Chinese people waste every year is enough to food 200 million people for a year. Chinese people are well known for being hospitable(好客的) and generous(慷慨的), Many even feel that they lose face if their guests have eaten all the food, because it seems that they haven't prepared(准备) enough food for their guests.

Luckily, the campaign has got the support of many restaurants. In a restaurant in Xinjiang, the owner gives a sticker to the customers (消费者) who have eaten all that they ordered. People can enjoy a free meal when they have 10 stickers. Besides, more than 750 restaurants in Beijing have begun to offer smaller dishes and encourage their customers to take leftovers home.

To reduce food waste is a big task, and it needs time. It'simportant that everyone should do their bit just like Qi,So did you finish your meals today?

Dear future Linda (or rather myself),

I hope when you read this letter you don't find my writing too messy! At the moment, I'm 15 years old and living at home with my family. I love school and have lots of good friends. We do lots of fun things together like parties, ice skating and swimming. My biggest worry is not doing well in my school exams, but I'm working really hard, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about.

There's so much I (you!) want to do. I hope you've traveled all over the world, seen lots of things and met lots of people. I hope you've visited the Great Wall in China and the pyramids in Egypt, shopped in New York City and in Paris, and seen polar bears in Norway and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, I've just remembered, you always wanted to see elephants in India—I hope you've managed to do that, too.

I promise myself I'll always try my best and have no regrets. I never want to forget where every step of my life has taken me. Already it seems as if so much has happened. I've moved from primary to junior middle school (about to graduate), been taught to swim and dance (I love ballet dancing), learned to speak Chinese and French, and raised money for those in need by selling old toys and books.

I really hope you're happy. I hope you have a successful career that you enjoy doing and look forward to each morning when you wake up. I hope you're surrounded by good friends and family and maybe also have a family of your own. More than anything else, I hope you've enjoyed every single moment so far!
