I had a summer camp with my classmates last year. 

Early in the morning, we gathered(集合) at the bus station. After saying goodbye to our parents, we got on the buses. It took us more than two hours to arrive at the campground. 

We got off the buses cheerfully. Laughing and shouting, we jumped and ran all over the place. It was the first time for us to be away from the parents. Some of us started to feel homesick(想家的). However, when the night party and dances began, the homesickness was gone. 

The next day, everyone rushed to the boating class, hoping to be at the head of the others. At first, my friends and I worked hard, but the boat wouldn't listen to us and kept going round and round. Then the teacher taught us how to work together. After many tries, we did much better, 

Swimming class was my favourite. It was about the hottest time of a day and the best time to stay in the cool water. The swimming teacher was a funny man, and during the class he often made us laugh happily. 

During the week I learnt a lot of new things and made many new friends. I also learnt how to take care of myself. 

A farmer had a friend and his friend was famous for growing wonderful apple trees．

One day, the farmer's friend gave him a young apple tree and told him to take it home and plant it．

The farmer loved the gift. But when he got home, he did not know where to plant it. He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the apples. If he planted the tree in one of his fields, his neighbors would come at night and steal the apples. If he planted the tree near his house, his children would take the apples. Finally he planted the tree in his wood．Nobody could see it, but there was no sunlight in his wood, the tree soon died．

Later, the friend asked the farmer why he planted the tree in such a poor place. " What's the difference？"the farmer said angrily. "If I plant the tree near the road, strangers may steal the apples．If I plant the tree in one of my fields, my neighbors may come at night and steal the apples． If I plant the tree near my house, my children may take the apples．"

"Yes," said the friend， "but at least someone could enjoy the apples. Now no one could eat the apples, and the apple tree died!"

 My name is Gabby Talarico. I'm a student in an art school in Southern California. I have a lot of volunteering experiences. The {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(以下的) experience has been my favourite one.

 Last summer, I went to an art camp in the local community. There were many poor families which were  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(不能做某事) to afford to let their children learn singing, dancing and acting. However, the camp {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(提供) the children with a chance. It not only allowed them to learn about art, but also made them feel special.

 This camp changed my o{#blank#}4{#/blank#} about the world and taught me that helping others could make a difference. We had children who came from all backgrounds, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(包括) homeless children and children in single- parent families. Helping them made me happy and full of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(能量).

 The children told me that they were very happy {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(设法做成) to take part in the camp dint that they learned a lot. Since then, I have truly believed that art is {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(有用的) and important. It is like a gift to me and I have been really thankful to share that gift with the children.

This {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(整个的) experience has made me know how important it is to help others. I have also{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(意识到) that I have been lucky enough to experience everything in my life.

A few years ago, I had a wonderful Christmas experience that finally changed how I celebrated the festival. Now I've decided to 1  it with all of you. 

Before that Christmas, I was running around like a crazy person to get 2  ready. One day I took my three little kids to the market to buy the last things for the next day. After walking and shopping for a long time, I was terribly 3  and kept thinking to myself, "What is the true 4  of Christmas?"

When I was walking towards the exit(出口) after I finished 5 , I noticed an old man sitting on the bench 6  an envelope in his hand. He handed something to a well-dressed, 7  man and said, "Merry Christmas!" It was a $20 bill. The young man was in great 8  and asked, "Are you serious?""Yes. Merry Christmas, " he replied. So the young man got the money and left 9 . 

"What's he doing?"I was more puzzled(困惑的) 10  I saw him giving more bills to some other shoppers. Just then he 11  and walked over to me. Then he pulled a $50 bill out of his envelope and handed it to me, saying "Merry Christmas!"

My face turned 12  and said, "Sir, I don't need fifty dollars. ""Well, then, " he smiled and said, "find someone who does. Merry Christmas!" And he left 13 . What a kind man he was and how many people he helped out that day! All of a sudden, for the 14  time I felt the real Christmas spirit. And I decided I'd spread his spirit and find someone who 15  that $50. From then on, I was used to teaching my kids about love and kindness and letting them feel the spirit of Christmas. Merry Christmas, everyone!
