It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone's face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn't going to be another normal day, but a special one.

"Please calm down and sit," said Mr. Johnson, "I'm glad everyone's here for the final reading test of the year." When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. "You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks," he added gently.

As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, and others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh heartily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, "When is break time?" Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, "Break time starts... now!"

Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door. "Mr. Johnson!" She cried out. A moment of silence fell over the room as we thought, "Mr. Johnson might be in trouble." However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn't help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break.

During break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him!

As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs. Miller's office. Someone joked, "Don't play with the ice creams, Mr. Johnson!" We all laughed together.

How I've Changed!

My life has changed a lot in the last few years.

I was doing the work in the garden yesterday. It was a soft evening and I was   making the most of it when I heard a neighbor's voice coming from the path out of our garden. 

I found there was a man lying on his back on the path with his eyes closed. I   recognized him. I had seen him doing the drunkard's(酒鬼) walk along that path several times. 

I stopped to walk out. " Do you need some help?"I asked. 

He opened his eyes and said, " Probably. " Then he told me because of arthritis(关节炎) he couldn't walk well at the most of times. I thought I should do it when he asked to help him go home where he lived a few hundred metres away. 

I tried to let him walk under his own strength with me guiding him but that   was getting us nowhere. It was easier to carry him, but that would be a real insult(侮辱) to him. So, I held his left hand with my left hand and grabbed his belt with my right hand. Then we started walking slowly. 

On the way he told me his name, what he had worked as, what holidays he had been, how wonderful his granddaughter was, what his wife's name was, and what a hard time she would give him when he got home!

Thank goodness! His wife wasn't in when we walked forty- five minutes back to his home. 

If we wait until we feel good about helping before we help, then people will go unhelped and we will become the ones who end up walking on by. 

It's always a good thing to have a hobby. For Miss Patty, a school bus driver in Erie County, her 1 of knitting（编织）has made her really touch the community.

Miss Patty always wanted to do 2 in her spare time to help the students. After a 3 with one of the students, things took a turn from knitting one hat to knitting more hats.

Now there are more than 180 museums in Chengdu. Last year, the city's museums held over 2, 700 learning activities. They were very popular with students. More than 1, 380, 000 children took part in them. 

On May 18 this year, Chengdu Museum and SPGS International School Chengdu held an activity together to Celebrate International Museum Day. More than 20 students of the school, who come from different countries, took part in it. 

During the activity, the students visited the exhibition (展览会) on the city's history and culture. They also learned more about the exhibits through special lessons. They even made imitations (仿制品) of the exhibits there. Maia Santana Fong, a girl from Cuba, was one of them. She sat quietly before a small rhino sculpture (犀牛雕塑) and carefully colored it with bright paint. It was an imitation of a stone rhino nearly 2, 000 years ago. 

"I find the activity very interesting. The museum trip helped me get a better feel for the rich Chinese culture, " said Maia Santana Fong. 

In the past, students usually learned about the exhibits through pictures and videos in classrooms. But now they can see them with their own eyes at the museum. It helps students study China's history and culture better. 

Ran Jing, director of the museum's social education department, said, "The activity was just like a bridge between the school and the museum, between Chinese people and people from other countries, by telling China's stories through the exhibition. "

There was a photo touching the hearts of thousands of people online. In the photo a baby is staying with David, also known as "ICU(重症监护室) Grandpa". 

Logan, the baby, had to stay in an ICU. His father was too busy with work. And Mary, Logan's mother, had an 8-year-old daughter to look after too. So Logan had to stay alone in hospital for some time every day. 

One day, when Mary got to the hospital, she found an old man was looking after her son. " He said he heard Logan crying and asked the nurse if he could sing him to sleep. Oh, this man is like an angel(天使)!" said Mary. 

David volunteered at the ICUs for years. On Tuesdays, he always spent time with older children. And on Thursdays, he stayed with little babies. 

But why ICUs?"In ICUs, there are always some serious things going on. I'm happy to have a chance to help those kids, " said David. "When I stay with them, I feel warm. It's so great. I really enjoy it. " What David did really meant a lot to parents like Mary. 

Sadly, David died at the age of 86. Slade, a nurse at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, said she hoped that David's spirit would continue to provide some comfort for families in the future.
