Liu Yibing has been interested in planes since he was young. And he 1 his first plane in when he was years old. Over the next five years, Liu spent about , yuan on his 2 and made four more planes. But none of them was 3 .

However, Liu never stopped trying."Making a plane was far more 4 than I had thought," said Liu, who today makes a living 5 flying and training pilots(飞行员). Liu's father was a doctor and expected Liu to be someone like him. 6 his mother, a farmer, understood Liu better. She knew her son's dream and 7 he could do what he really liked. So she sold one of their houses and gave all the 8 to him to make a plane.

What do you dream of doing in the future? We did a survey about jobs that students are going to do when they grow up. 100 students at the Hill School gave their answers. Here are the results.

35% of the students hope to be famous stars. Some of them like music, so they want to be musicians. Some like sports, so they would like to be basketball or football players.

30% of the students are going to be IT engineers. They think the job must become more and more popular, because the computer and the Internet are changing our life and making our life easier. People can do lots of things on the computer with the Internet, such as shopping and communicating with others.

15% of them hope to be scientists. They decide to try their best to study and they want to make our country stronger and better.

10% of the students plan to start their own businesses (公司). Then they can have more time to do what they want to do and maybe they will make much money one day.

There are other jobs for the students to choose, such as doctors, teachers and drivers. The last ten students decide to choose these jobs.

It's great and important to have a dream. Remember not to give up your dream. One day it may come true.

" The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence(栅栏)." That's1 old saying in English. It means other places often look better and 2 than the place where you live. These days, many people worry that some young Chinese may 3 that way.

Some young Chinese become less interested 4 Chinese culture. Instead, they like Japanese 5 and Korean soap operas. Foreign books and shows are good, but Chinese writers and actors are 6 excellent and famous, such as Mo Yan , Jackie Chan and so on. What's more,7 Some foreign festivals are nice, they can't have the special meanings for Chinese. We all know that friendliness is one of the best parts of Chinese culture. Not all countries are as 8 as China.

I was fourteen years old and I just came to the junior high school. It seemed that I would have difficulties finishing high school because I was a troubled teenager. However, one person came into my life quietly and then completely changed everything. 

The first year in my school, Mr. Brown taught me history. He was quite different from the other teachers I had known. But I had to say that he was sure a great teacher. 

One day, Mr. Brown called me aside(到旁边) and asked why I was a B student in his class but a C student in the rest of my classes. I passionately(热情地)told him about my divorced(离婚的)parents, the gangs (尤指滋事的青少年团伙), the fights, the police—all of the evil things I had experienced. It was then that Mr. Brown patiently explained that the only person responsible(有责任的)for my situation was me. And the only person with the ability to change my situation was me, too. He told me that I failed not because I was a failure as a student. He encouraged me to become a better student. 

Ten years later, I was preparing to graduate(毕业)from a university. The first person coming to my mind was him. So I tried to reach him and wanted to tell him that I really wished him to come to enjoy this important moment together with me. 

I'll never forget his reply. He said, "Who is this again?"

At that moment, I came to realize that I was just one of hundreds of the students whose lives were changed by him but he had no idea of his influence. 

Mr. Brown never came to my graduation(毕业), but his not coming taught me another important lesson. His final lesson for me was that we will never know or understand the influence we have on other people's lives. And he also taught me that we all have the chance to influence people's lives for the better or for the worse.
