Bill Gates was born on October 28th, 1955. When he was 13 years old, Bill started to play{#blank#}1{#/blank#} computers. At that time, computers {#blank#}2{#/blank#} very large machines. Once（曾经） he was{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in a very old computer. He and some of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} friends spent lots of time {#blank#}5{#/blank#}unusual（不同寻常的） things with it. In the end, they worked out a software program with the old machine. Bill sold（卖）, 200 dollars when he was only 17. In 1973, Bill {#blank#}6{#/blank#}to Harvard University. At Harvard, he developed the BASIC language for the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}microcomputer（微型计算机）. In his third year, he {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Harvard to work for a company called Microsoft. Bill began this company in 1975 with his friend Paul Allen. They thought that the computer would be a very{#blank#}9{#/blank#} tool（工具） in every office and in every home, so they began developing software for personal （个人的）computers. They improved（改进） the software to make it easier for people to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}computer than before.

Give a hand to a classmate in need. Helping a classmate is a good way to make friends. You might help someone pick up the notebooks they dropped or let someone borrow a pencil. Being kind is a great way to make friends with others, such as offering part of your lunch to someone who forgot theirs or offering to read textbooks together with someone who forgot to bring theirs.

Keep your eye out for classmates with same interests. Look at your classmates' interests and activities. Do you see someone reading your favorite book or wearing a T-shirt of your favorite color? These common interests can help you find people you' re more likely to get along with.

In ancient（古代的） China, people have three names: the family name, the given name, and the courtesy name（字）. Do you know the famous poet（著名诗人）—Li Bai? His family name is Li. His given name is Bai and his courtesy name is Taibai. 

People use their given names when they are with their family or friends. And the elders like grandparents and parents call their given names at home. But in the workplaces（工作场所）, people use their courtesy names. 

Men get their courtesy names when they are 20 years old. Women get their courtesy names after they get married（结婚）. 

People's courtesy names have something to do with their given names. For example, Zhuge Liang's given name is Liang. It means "bright". His courtesy name is Kongming. And the meaning is "very bright".
