A lovely rabbit, a cute hamster, some colourful fish, a strange-looking turtle or a snake...What kind of pet would you like? Lots of kids love animals and dream of having a pet.

    But not every family can have a pet. So, in many Western countries such as America, Britain and Australia, primary and middle school classes have their own pets. Looking after a pet is not as easy as you may think! Fish and turtles need clean water and the right food. Hamsters and rabbits need fresh vegetables and a warm place to sleep. Even little mice need good care! What would you feed a pet mouse? How about snakes?

    Class pets teach kids about nature and being responsible. Sometimes the pets have babies. It's very exciting but it also means having more animals to take care of!

    Students take turns to take care of their class pets. Every week the pets have a new “mum and dad” to look after them.

    You may want to know what happens to the class pets during school holidays. At the end of term, the teacher chooses a responsible student. This lucky student keeps the pets at his or her home for the holidays.

I am Nick. I am a teacher at Oxford Junior School in England. I would like to tell you something about the school day in our school.

We have our first class at 9:20 a.m. and it lasts an hour. The students have a break（休息） from 10:20 a.m,to 10:45 a.m. Most girls like to eat snacks in the classroom, but most boys like to play games in the playground.

After the break, the students have the second class. It lasts an hour and fifteen minutes.

During the first fifteen minutes, the students usually take a test（测试）. The two classes in the morning are usually an English lesson and a Maths lesson.

Lunchtime is from 12:00 to 1:10 p.m. Most students bring their own lunch from home. Others have lunch in the school dining hall. After lunch, they usually play games in the playground or go to the Lunchtime Club. In the club, they can watch TV, surf the Internet, or chat with friends. The students rend some books and have another class in the afternoon. School is over at S₁15p.m.Then the students go home.

In a recent game of pickleball, my teammate and I were falling far behind our competitors. It was her turn to throw the ball. We were both standing be-hind the baseline, when she nodded at me and said, "In it to win it!"

"Really?" I looked at her in surprise, I had never seen such catchy expression on her face. Personally, I refused even the tiniest suggestion that we should be trying to win the game.

In my life, I had enjoyed the sports with ro. winners and losers, and had always preferred to be a spectator (看客) rather than a player in the world of sports.

Then pickleball game into my life. I started to learn it in my second year of university. Suddenly, I didn't what to be a spectator any longer. I wanted to be a player myself.

My love for the pickleball is that: it's easy to get started with. The gear(装备) isn't too expensive. It's an easy game to learn, and the players don't need to be especially strong, tall or fast. No wonder that a lot of people can now be seen throwing a green, orange or yellow plastic ball with holes in it across a net.

Pickleball is the first game I've ever wanted to win. The idea comes from the excitement I feel when I score a point. Joining in a sport myself rather than cheering for others provides real proof(证明) that I can still work hard to achieve goals.

So, I've made a decision to continue it. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to socialize while doing something active. In that playful space of the court, I face my fears of winning and losing. Now I wonder what competitions I might be brave enough to enter next.

The opening ceremony was a proper way to kick off the Asian Games, a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (celebrate) of sport and unity. It was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (sure) a reminder of the rich cultural heritage(遗产) of Asia and the power of sport to bring people together.

It's time to enjoy the special warm porridge of winter. In China, the 12th 1 of the lunar calendar (农历) is called La Yue. Chinese people celebrate Lab a Festival on the eighth day of the month. After this festival people begin to 2 the Spring Festival.

On Laba Festival, people eat 3 Laba porridge to make themselves warm. To make the porridge nice, people would like to 4 it with eight different things. It 5 has rice, red beans (红豆), dried lotus seeds (千莲子), some nuts and different kinds of dried fruits. And of course, 6 things you like in the porridge is also good.

At midnight, people start to cook it, but they will eat it 7 the next morning. It usually takes a lot of time to make it 8 delicious.

The 9 is also called Eight Treasure Porridge. Most people like eating it, because the porridge is not only good for 10 , but also a blessing (祝福) for the coming of the Spring Festival.
