Mr. Dawson was an old man with a bad temper. Kids were afraid to go into his yard to pick apples. 

One day, 12-year-old Janet and her friend Amy had to walk past Mr. Dawson's house. When Janet saw him, she suggested crossing the street to the other side. But Amy said they needn't. 

When Mr. Dawson saw Amy, he smiled and said, "Hello, Amy! I see you have a new friend with you today." Amy smiled back. Mr. Dawson looked friendly and gave them each a fresh apple.

More biking, better public transport and odd-even bans on vehicles (车辆单双号限行)—many cities are using different ways to reduce {#blank#}1{#/blank#} pollution.

 Paris doesn't allow cars in many historic central places at weekends, carries out odd-even bans on vehicles, and makes public transport free {#blank#}2{#/blank#} there are serious pollution events.

Because of the serious {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in Delhi, India made the city stop all new large diesel cars (柴油汽车) and diesel taxis. The city has started odd-even bans on vehicles and is now encouraging Uber-style minibuses. Other {#blank#}4{#/blank#} like Dublin and Brussels, are also considering diesel bans.

Helsinki, capital of Finland, plans to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} cut down the number of cars on its streets by developing better public transport, raising the parking prices and encouraging bikes and walking. The government {#blank#}6{#/blank#} that in this way, no one will want a car by 2050.

Freiburg, Germany has 500km of bike routes(路线) and a cheap and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} public transport system. One town, Vauban, does not allow people to park cars near {#blank#}8{#/blank#} homes and makes car owners pay€18,000 for a special space near the town. In return for living without a car, the government {#blank#}9{#/blank#} people cheaper housing, free public transport, and many bicycle spaces.

 Copenhagen, Denmark prefers bikes to cars and now has {#blank#}10{#/blank#} bicycles than people. Large parts of the city have been closed to cars for years and the city plans {#blank#}11{#/blank#} carbon neutral (碳平衡) by 2025.

While Cao Cao's soldiers{#blank#}5{#/blank#} sailing on the river，they heard the sounds. At that time，they{#blank#}6{#/blank#} they were in danger. But they could not see through the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} fog （雾） on the river. Cao Cao asked his soldiers to shoot arrows towards the sounds of the{#blank#}8{#/blank#} and the shouting. Zhuge Liang's boats were soon full of arrows. 

Zhuge Liang's soldiers then turned the boats around and shouted， "Thank you for{#blank#}9{#/blank#} arrows，Cao Cao. " Zhuge Liang took all these arrows to Zhou Yu. There were{#blank#}10{#/blank#} than 100，000 of them. Zhuge Liang made the impossible task possible. That's why the story is so famous. 

Wonderful Park has finally reopened after nearly three months of repair! Since my sister Julia's birthday is coming, yesterday my parents took us to the park to have some fun. Julia was very excited as she had never been to Wonderful Park before.

We arrived at the park early in the morning. While we were buying tickets at the ticket office, Julia was told that she could enjoy free admission during her birthday month. She could also get some pin s and stickers for free. Julia was over the moon with her birthday presents. After buying our tickets, Julia wanted to ride the Ferris wheel. However, Mum suggested going to the King's Theatre first as a musical was about to begin.

We were attracted by the delicious smell of popcorn while we were on the way to the King's Theatre. We bought two bags of chocolate popcorn and it tasted good. Before we entered the theatre, there were two cartoon characters standing at the entrance. They were lovable so Julia and I took some photos with them. The show began at ten forty-five. Though I am not a big fan of musicals, it was really great. All the performers sang and danced well. There was a huge round of applause (掌声) when the show ended. Then, we went to the ride. It was the last stop and also the most enjoyable part of our trip.

Kate and Jim are wife and husband. Like many New Age Travellers, they don't live in a house,1 in a truck. For about three years 2 moved around the country with other travellers. Now their daughter, Lucy, is four years old, and Kate wants to 3 their life and come back to the city.
