I know how hard it is to make friends in a new school. I once joined the football team and the music club in my school of Toronto. I was very popular at that time and made a lot of friends. It made me very happy and my school life was very great.

Everything became different when I was 16 years old, because my parents decided to move to    Florida. Who can quickly adapt to (适应) a completely strange environment? So changing to a new   school was not easy for me. At the beginning, days in the new school were much more different than I thought. The class schedule (时间表) was different, and the teachers and students were strange and fresh to me. Some kids tried to be nice to me, but I was afraid to have a talk with them.

After staying in the new school for a few weeks, I realized that no one tried to communicate with me anymore, so I began to feel lonely. Two months later we had a course that required teamwork. Then, all the students came to study and even tried to help each other. I realized that they were hard-working and friendly just like me. I began to make friends with them. Several years later, we still keep in touch with each other and they have become a great treasure to me.

Sometimes, if we can't change the environment around us, change ourselves in time. And try to get used to the life in different places.

When I was in Grade 8, I had a heated argument(争吵)with my classmate, Tony．I have forgotten what the argument was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that day．

I believed that I was right and he was wrong, and Tony believed that I was wrong and he was right．Our teacher, a kind and smart lady, decided to teach us a lesson．She brought us to the front of the class and placed him on one side of her desk and me on the other．In the middle of her desk was a large and round object．I could clearly see that it was black．The teacher asked us what color the object was．"White，" Tony answered．I couldn't believe he said the object was white! "Clearly, it was black！" Another argument started between Tony and me, this time about the color of the object．

The teacher told me to go and stand where Tony was standing and told him to go and stand where I was standing．We changed places, and now she asked me what color the object was．I had to answer, "White．" It was an object with two differently colored sides — from his side it was white, while from my side it was black．"Boys, now, what do you say？" The teacher smiled at us．Tony has been my best friend ever since．

My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: When you disagree with others, you'd better be in their shoes．That will help you look at the situation through their eyes, and truly understand their ideas and ways of thinking．

One day, Miss Foster said to her class, " What are you thankful(感激的) for Please draw a picture of it. " Her students drew different things. Most of them were beautiful, 1 Mark's was different. 

Mark drew a pair of hands(手) and they were very 2 . Miss Foster and the class were surprised. They looked at the picture and talked about who had such dirty hands.

Jason and his father were going to a supermarket by car to pick up some apples. It had been an unusual day. The sky was dark but there were few clouds. As they drove up the street, there started to be a loud sound heard across the ground.

Jason's father immediately realized that a tornado(龙卷风) was coming. He stopped the car and told Jason to get out immediately. Jason and his father got out of the car and made their way to the closest building. By this time the wind was blowing harder, and it was hard to see or hear. Jason couldn't see his dad anymore. He also realized that he wasn't getting to the building fast enough. He was afraid he would be picked up by the wind and thrown into the air.

As he made his way towards the building, he noticed a field to his right. He could see an irrigation ditch (灌溉渠). He felt really afraid inside because he'd never been in a tornado before. His heart began to race and he could feel sweat dripping down from his face. In a panic, he started running towards the ditch as fast as he could. He stumbled(绊倒)a bit as he climbed down into it, but soon he was lying flat on the ground, hiding inside. He could hear his heart beating even more loudly and felt his whole body shaking.

After a while, the wind died down and the loud roaring sound was gone. Jason slowly lifted his head and nervously looked around. What he saw was a great mess. Jason could hardly recognize the buildings in front of him because of all the damage.

He stood up and with his legs shaking and walked to the building. Once there, he pushed the door open and went inside. It was a public building owned by the city. It was empty, but Jason could hear noises further inside. He walked into the large room and saw his dad. He ran across the room and gave him a big hug.

"Jason! How are you? I' ve been so worried about you!" said his father. "I couldn't find you anywhere!"

Jason breathed a sigh of a relief(松了一口气) and sat down. He did have a story to tell!

During the summer holidays, many parents like to send their children to summer camps. In recent years, more and more foreign students take part in summer camps in China to learn about its culture and history. 

In Baoding, a city in Hebei province, a group of high school students and teachers from America joined Chinese students for a 12-day summer camp. During their time in Baoding, the American students visited many local places of interest, including the Ancient Lotus Pond (莲花池), wbere they could admire the beautiful flowers. They also visited famous places of interest near the city, like the Great Wall. 

The camp also offered different kinds of cuitural activities for the foreign students. Theytried traditional calligraphy (书法), played ping-pong, and watched an exciting Peking Opera. Although they found the activities challenging, they enjoyed learning about the rich traditions of Chinese culture. 

During the camp, the students stayed with local host families, it gave them a chance to experience daily life in China and build strong friendships with the Chinese students. "I have made many friends here. We share common interests and hobbies, " said Daniel, one of the American students. 

The summer camp left unforgettable memories for the American students. Their time in China helped to build friendships and a deeper understanding for a culture that was new to them "I will keep in fouch with them in the future. " said Daniel.
