Last week, I finally succeeded in asking my parents to buy me a new football shirt for the school match. I was very excited and wore it to the training before the match, but I wished I hadn't done that! My new shirt was torn(扯破) after the training and only a tailor(裁缝) could help!

As I walked home worriedly, I saw a shop sign: All Kinds of Repairs(修补) and Services! I went inside at once. I looked around the shop and saw broken toys, broken chairs… I wondered if I was in the wrong place. Just at that moment, a man with white hair came up to me and said cheerfully, " Welcome! This is a repair shop and I can repair everything!"

"But… what I need is a tailor to deal with my football shirt."

"You've come to the right place. I've been waiting a long, long time to repair a football shirt."

"Really?"I held the shirt in my hands.

To my surprise, he took the shirt from me, put on glasses and sat down on the sofa with my shirt in his hands. "I guess you are a striker(前锋),"he smiled warmly. How could he know? The man gave me a wink and said calmly,"See that picture on the wall? That was me 30 years ago. "

I couldn't believe my eyes! He was Orhan, the famous footballer who was on the city team years ago! I told him I was playing for the school team and I had been his fan for years. I told him everything, my dream, my practice and even my dad's words. "Dad thinks I should be an engineer or a doctor."I lowered my head.

"Follow your dream, choose a job you love and carry on."The man smiled at me with his blue eyes. He patted(轻拍) me on the shoulder and put the shirt he had repaired in my bag.

Today I have become a footballer and I still keep that shirt in my closet.

The popular TV programme, Touching China, was shown successfully on 3rd March 2022. We heard a name——Zhu Yanfu. His story moved everyone deeply. 

Zhu Yanfu was born in Zhangjiaquan village in Shandong Province in July 1933. When he was only 14 years old, he joined the army. Although he was young, he was not afraid to take part in wars. He lost his hands, his left eye and both legs below the knee during the Korean War in the 1950s. But he still said, "I don't regret what I have done to protect our country. "

In 1956, he chose to abandon the special care in the army nursing home and returned to his home town. He ever said, "I don't want to depend on our country to support me. I want to work for our country and serve its people. "

Zhu Yanfu was chosen as the secretary of the village's Party branch(村党支部书记) in 1957. He spent about 25 years developing the poor village. With his hard work, Zhangjiaquan became the first village to have electricity in the town in 1978. Now the people in his home town live a better life. 

Besides, Zhu Yanfu spent his money buying books for the reading room he set up in 1957. He later built an evening school which was the first school in the village. He understood that the best way to live a better life was by enriching people's minds. 

In order to pass on the revolutionary(革命的) tradition, he completed two autobiographical(自传体的) novels Extreme Life and A Man Without Regret during seven years. 

His story was widely reported from the 1990s and moved many people. Zhu Yanfu is a national hero who we should respect and learn from. 

Everyone wants to have a good friend, and wants to keep friendship for long. Then what can we do to keep friendship for a long time? Friendship is like a seed (种子). If all the conditions (条件) are right and you really look after it well, then you'll have a strong plant. It will go on to grow bigger and better as time passes by. If it's what you want, keep the advice in mind. 

Spend time around people you'd like to be friends with, and join in with their plans. If you don't agree with their plans, say no in a friendly way, "I like that idea but maybe we could …"

 Be a good listener, so that others know that you're really interested in what they're saying. 

Get to know people well by sharing"safe (安全的)" ideas with them first. It might be something about TV shows or your favourite football team. It isn't always safe to tell someone very personal things about yourself, like things you might be worried about or afraid of. 

Be positive! Don't feel sad about something terrible, and you learn how to deal with sadness. Talk about the good things in your life. No one wants to be troubled by problems all the time. 

The most important thing is that you have to be a good friend if you want a good friend. 

"Poor Grandma! Is there any way to make her feel better?" Amy said to her brother Mark.

There was something wrong with Grandma's legs. She loved to work in her garden，so she would not enjoy sitting in her chair waiting for her legs to heal(康复) themselves.

"I have an idea, " said Mark. "I saw some pictures of terrariums(玻璃箱) in a magazine. Terrariums are little gardens. Let's make a terrarium for Grandma to make her happy. " Amy thought it was a great idea, so they found the magazine with the ways of making a terrarium and showed it to their mom. She thought that a terrarium would be a great gift for Grandma.

With the help of Mom, Amy and Mark found a large and clean glass bottle. Mark then placed two plants and put the soil(土壤) over their roots(根). Then Amy placed some colorful rocks(岩石) around the plants. Finally, they watered the plants.

When Amy and Mark showed Grandma her new terrarium, her eyes were wet. Now she has a beautiful little garden to enjoy in her house.

 The National Literacy Trust once did some researches(调查) on reading. About 32,000 children from different schools in the UK answered the questions from it. These children are aged from 8 to 18.

 The research shows that children in the UK are reading less in their free time. Just over a quarter of the students said they read outside school. About the same number said their parents didn't feel that reading was important. Half of those students said they enjoyed reading"very much" or"quite a lot". About two in five thought reading was"cool", but about one in three said they only read when they had to.

 Jonathan Douglas from the National Literacy Trust said, "Our research not only shows that children are reading less and having negative attitudes(消极的态度) to reading but also shows the relationship(关系) between this and their performance in reading tests." The research also finds that many children in the UK like to read e- books outside school. The percentage in 2014 was about 6% and it grew to 12% in2015.

 In today's world, there are so many activities for children to do. But if they sit down and do some reading, they will find reading is really interesting and useful.
