Kanchha Sherpa (夏尔巴人) is ninety-one years old now (2024). He was a member of the famous team of 35 to reach the top of Mount Qomolangma (珠穆朗玛峰) on May 29, 1953. The team was the first group to the top of the mountain. And Kanchha is the last surviving (幸存的) member of them.

Kanchha is furious (暴怒的) at the situation of the mountain now, saying it is now crowded and dirty. "They should not be dirtying the mountain. It is our biggest god and they should not be dirtying the gods," said Kanchha. "Qomolangma is the biggest god for the Sherpas but people smoke and eat meat and throw rubbish on the mountain."

Since Kanchha's first climb, thousands have climbed up the world's tallest mountain. More visitors come, and also some climbers live on the mountain for months at a time. They bring a lot of rubbish. That worries people. There are rules in place that climbers must clean up their own rubbish and equipment (装备). But that doesn't produce (产生) a successful result.

"It is very dirty now. People throw wrappings (包装材料) after eating food. Who is going to pick them up now?" said Kanchha. "It would be better for the mountain to reduce (减少) the number of climbers. Right now there is always a big crowd of people at the top of Qomolangma."

It was the last day of the school year. The classroom was filled with excitement. When our teacher, Mr. Johnson, walked in, holding a CD player, everyone's face lit up with a smile. We knew that this wasn't going to be another normal day, but a special one.

"Please calm down and sit," said Mr. Johnson, "I'm glad everyone's here for the final reading test of the year." When everyone cried, Mr. Johnson laughed, saying it was just a joke. Then he reminded us that we still had a job to do. "You need to clean out your desks and put all your things into your backpacks," he added gently.

As we began our task, Mr. Johnson turned on the CD player. The lively music made the room feel like a party. Some of us started singing along with the music, and others were dancing around their desks while they were cleaning them out. Even Mr. Johnson showed us a few dance steps, making everyone laugh heartily. After we finished cleaning, someone asked, "When is break time?" Mr. Johnson took out some balls and started playing with them. Suddenly, he let the balls drop and said, "Break time starts... now!"

Just as we were about to rush out, our headmaster, Mrs. Miller, appeared at the door. "Mr. Johnson!" She cried out. A moment of silence fell over the room as we thought, "Mr. Johnson might be in trouble." However, to our surprise, Mrs. Miller couldn't help but laugh at the sight and left us to enjoy our break.

During break time, Mr. Johnson surprised us with another treat. He went to the cafe and came back with ice creams for everyone. We all cheered for him!

As we walked back to the classroom, we passed Mrs. Miller's office. Someone joked, "Don't play with the ice creams, Mr. Johnson!" We all laughed together.

Exercise is important to our life. People around {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(we) say we should exercise more. And scientists now say that running is one of the best {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (way) to keep healthy. 

All you need for running is not special clothes {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a good pair of sports shoes. And remember— You should always buy shoes for running one size {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(large) than your usual shoes. 

Some people find running boring, so they go riding or {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(swim) instead (代替) sometimes. Also, you shouldn't exercise every day. It's very important {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(rest) two or three times a week. You should eat well and drink lots of water but you can still have nice things {#blank#}7{#/blank#} chocolate sometimes. Do some leg exercises every week as well, because this makes you stronger and helps you run {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(well). 

If you're {#blank#}9{#/blank#} beginner, there are lots of ways to make exercise fun. For example, you can run in a race. This can give you a reason to train {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(careful) and keep you interested in running. By doing so, you will love running soon. 

A group of people asked this question to a group 4- to-8- year- old children." What does love mean?" The answers were surprising. The children would answer like they did below. 

" When my grandmother hurt(伤害) her knees, she couldn't bent(弯腰) over and paint her toenails(脚指甲) any more. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands hurt too. That's love."

 Tomorrow is Emma' s first day of junior high school. Her mother buys her a new schoolbag. It is red. Emma is excited to have it. She sits on the chair and packs her schoolbag.

 First, she puts her pencil case into the schoolbag. What's in the pencil case? Look. She has two pens and three pencils. She also has an eraser and a ruler. They' re all in her pencil case. She also puts her colour pencils in the pencil case. She can draw pictures with them for her art teacher Mrs Green. Next, she puts her scissors(剪刀) in it. She wants to make cards with them for her friends. Then, she puts all her textbooks in it.

 Emma puts all the school things in her schoolbag. What a great term it can be!

In Los Angeles, US, there is a special school    named Sotomayor Arts and Sciences Magnet. There students don't just learn about farming. They become farmers!

The school has a three-acre farm. On the farm, students take care of animals like chickens and pigs. The school also has a greenhouse(温室). Students learn to grow plants there. It's really interesting, right?

Nathan Perez is a student at the school. He enjoys working on the farm. "Staying with animals just makes me feel good. I like being outside instead of being in the classroom all the time, " he says. 

Reies Flores is a teacher at the school. He speaks highly of the farm and the greenhouse. He says, "The farm and the greenhouse help students learn some important life skills(技能). At the same time, they also show students it's difficult to make food and put food on our table. Students then don't waste food anymore. "
