u  Using paper with lines (线条)

Using paper with lines can keep you writing straight when you write English words or sentences. Those lines on the paper can help you to write words in the right size.

u  Slow down

If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, going slower makes the handwriting clear. If you write too fast, it's hard for you to stop where you should, and even worse, you may make more mistakes.

u  Hold your pencil right

When you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. Try to be relaxed and don't hold the pencil so hard while writing, and then it makes your handwriting nice and clean. If you do so, people will think you are a student with a good habit.

u  Draw more pictures

Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control(控制) your pencil better when you are drawing pictures. If you have no time for drawing at school, you can practice it at home.

Deadly flooding has swept China s northern provinces this summer，causing many losses such as a number of people died and houses were destroyed（破坏） by floods. Like many other natural disasters，floods can happen with little or no warming. Finish floods move quickly and have strong currents（水流）. They are known to bring down trees and take down buildings. Besides，floods can cause power cuts （停电），traffic jam and other problems. But the food itself isn't the only problem to deal with. After the flood，it may have deadly results，as it may not be easy to send food and water to the area.

I'm studying in an American school now. Some of my classmates often ask me 1 like this, "Li Hua, Chinese is difficult for me. I don't know 2 to learn it well. Can you give 3 some advice (建议)?" Here is my advice.

So sometimes it is meaningless to stop kids from watching cartoons, but parents should make sure that their kids are watching the right things.

The Torch Festival(火把节) is a traditional festival among some ethnic groups (少数民族) in southwestern China. It {#blank#}1{#/blank#}falls on the 24^th or 25^th of June, with three days of celebrations. People believe fire has power to protect the growth of crops.

During the Torch Festival, every family needs to light a torch and hold it to walk around the fields. Big torches are made to appear in all villages. Small torches are {#blank#}2{#/blank#}in front of the door of each house. When the night falls, the torches are lit and the villages are as {#blank#}3{#/blank#} as day time. At the same time, people walk {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the fields and houses, holding small torches and then placing them in the field corners. Inside the villages, young people are singing and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} around the big torches.

I still couldn't get my poems published(出版). It made me feel sad to think I would never be famous. My dream(梦想) broke into pieces and I even wanted to give up although I loved poems.

I rushed out for a drink and met my old friend Standard. He greeted me and introduced his friend Hautboy to me. This new person looked nothing special —a short and fat forty-year-old man.

However, during the talk, I found I couldn't get my eyes off Hautboy. He seemed to enjoy everything we talked, and his laugh had the magic to make people around happy.

"I wish I were as happy as Hautboy," I told Standard after Hautboy left for a moment. "But we are different. Having such happiness is only because he is a common person. How could I, with big dreams, be like him?"

"Do you really think he's common?" Standard asked. I felt a little surprised. What was so special about that short, fat man?

When Hautboy was back again, he invited us to his place.

"If you promise to play the violin for us, we will." said Standard.

Violin! Was he a musician? I felt even more surprised.

Then we went to Hautboy's house. We watched him take out his old violin and play several pieces. The music he played was so beautiful that I was lost in it, and even forgot all my sadness.

Walking on the way back home, I asked Standard who this Hautboy really was.

"He was an amazing musician," said Standard, "He gave concerts from city to city in the past. One day, however, he said he was so tired and planned to do what he really loved. He started to give violin lessons to children. Although few people know him now, he is happier than ever before."

As Standard told me his real name, I couldn't be more surprised, "What? I know him. I cheered for that very name in the theatre when I was a child." At that moment, I felt     ▲    .

The next day, I picked up my pen and continued(继续)writing poems, my lifelong love.
