Jack, a clerk at the local bank, was wandering alone on the street. It was a cold, silent winter night. His mind was on his wife Linda, who had been in a car accident two months ago and was now lying in a hospital bed, waiting for more money for her operation. Jack had sold everything he had, and he had tried his best to borrow money from all the people and banks he could. But the real world is cruel.

    A large amount of money was still needed. To Jack, it would mean a great deal of suffering to see his wife die without any help. "I have only one option left, "Jack said to himself. Then he went to the bank, his workplace, again. For several days, he observed the bank and planned a theft.

    The next day, he went to work as usual. Everything seemed normal: he joked with his workmates and helped his clients as he always did. But no one noticed that he had brought a bigger suitcase to work, instead of the small one he always carried. At 5：00 pm, the bank closed, and the clerks and the guards had all gone home. However, at that moment, Jack was in the bathroom, and the guards didn't notice him, of course. When the noises coming from the street were replaced by silence and everything turned dark, Jack came out from the bathroom. He first cut the lines of the alarms and monitors with tools from his new suitcase.

    He was all too familiar with the equipment since he had been working there for 8 years and had been studying the security system for the past 30 days. Using a special key and some other tools, he then easily opened the doors of the safes. The bank's security system wasn't very good, which allowed Jack to take a lot of money. Several minutes later, Jack left the bank with a heavy bag filled with money.

The other day I was travelling to San Antonio by train to visit my sister. The train was a little crowded and there was a young man sitting next to the window. So I smiled at him and asked whether he could give up his seat and take another one. To my surprise, he said that he needed that seat and refused my request. Hearing my words, he began to smile at me and said in a calm voice, "Someone has to come for me and take me off the train because I can't do it by myself." Billy, a fourth-grade student at a primary school in Florida, was bullied for his DIY hand-drawn logo of the University of Tennessee（the UT）, but this made students of the UT act in support and the UT even turned his drawing into an official T-shirt.

It all started at "College Colors Day" on August 30. On that day, the primary school students were invited to wear their favorite university's football team's colors. Billy, wore an orange T-shirt representing his favorite university, the UT. He took it one step further to draw his own UT logo with pen and paper and put it to his T-shirt. Billy excitedly showed his T-shirt to Laura, a fourth-grade teacher at the school. She was greatly impressed and praised him for his wonderful idea.

But after lunch, Billy came back to Laura's office, crying. Billy was upset and hurt because some girls at the lunch table had made fun of the hand-drawn logo on his T-shirt. Laura knew sometimes kids could say really cruel words. She knew although the logo was not well-drawn and of course not the most beautiful, Billy had tried his best to use the resources he had available to him to take part in College Colors Day in his own way.

In an effort to cheer him up, Laura wrote in a post on Facebook, a popular social media website, on Wednesday that one of her students was "SO EXCITED" to show her his orange T-shirt pinned with a hand-drawn "UT" logo, but was made fun of. Laura wrote that she was planning to buy him an official UT T-shirt to make it a little extra special for Billy and ended the post by asking if any of her Facebook friends had any connections to the UT. What happened next made her shocked.

When receiving and opening the surprise box, Billy couldn't believe his eyes.

"Be proud of doing something honorable that you think might bring you shame at first," Grandma always told us before telling us this favorite family story.

In 1918, Grandpa worked in a shoe repair shop. He labored on the night shift so that he would be free to take care of the children in the daytime, allowing Grandm a to attend school and receive an education.

On the morning of her first class, Grandm a excitedly rushed to dress for school. As she excitedly took out all her old socks, Grandma became sad. She discovered all had many holes. "Forget it, dear. We have no time to repair them now," urged Grandpa. "You'll be late for class. And, anyway, I have a surprise for you!"

A moment later, Grandpa handed Grandma her old high-button shoes. But she could hardly recognize them, as they had been repaired and looked beautiful. While she was sleeping that night, Grandpa secretly repaired the shoes.

Grandma's eyes welled with tears of gratitude, "I'll look like a fine lady in these wonderful shoes!" she said. "Hurry! Put on a pair of long socks and the beautiful shoes, and no one will suspect you have honey socks. They'll be our little secret," Grandpa promised. Grandm a nodded and rushed out when Grandpa handed her two one-dollar bills for her tuition.

Arriving at school, Grandma felt uneasy in a classroom filled with strangers. Standing ahead was a serious-looking teacher called Miss Peabody. That morning, Miss Peabody passed an empty bowl around the classroom and instructed each student to drop the fees into it. Every student did that. One student paid his fee with a bright two-dollar gold coin.

After collecting all the money, the teacher placed the bowl on her desk. Later that afternoon,  when Miss Peabody counted the money, the small gold coin accidentally slipped out of the bowl and fell into Grandma's shoe. Unaware of it, Miss Peabody discovered the coin was missing. She felt quite anxious and searched around, but in vain.
