It's hard to be a new kid. You feel like everybody else has  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(friend) and you don't fit in. It takes time to get used to it. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}you can do it. You could go out and.do things instead of sitting at home by  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (you).

What would you like   {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(do) at your old school? Sports? Music? Chess? Join   {#blank#}5{#/blank#}team or club at your new school, and you'll   {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(easy) find kids who like the same things as you do.

If you meet kids who seem  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(interest) in class, ask them if they want to hang out. Give yourself a challenge(挑战) and say"Hi" {#blank#}8{#/blank#}one new kid each day.

Go to the playground to play sports. Exercise  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (help) put you in a good mood(心情), and maybe you'll meet other kids doing the same thing.

Also, let your parents and teachers know that you need help. They can help you find groups that you can join and kids who like  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}you like so that you can make friends.

James had always disliked Tony Hicks ever since Tony moved into his neighborhood. From the start，James sensed a strong rivalry（较量）forming between the two. Whenever James was doing something in the neighborhood，the true battle（战斗） began after a snowstorm. 

James woke up on a January morning. When he looked out the window，he saw white snow had covered the ground. So he rushed downstairs and pushed his snow blower out to clean the snow. Who did he see？It was Tony Hicks. He was busy cleaning the snow，too. 

James was angry. Doesn't he know this is my work？I've blown these houses for the past four years!Suddenly，it was no longer a matter of snow blowing for the purpose of helping his neighbors. For James，it was to beat Tony Hicks. 

The boys locked eyes for several seconds and then a competition began. The boys worked like crazy，completing each house as soon as possible. Finally，when they arrived at the end of a dead end

After a few seconds，James spoke，"We really did a fast work. "And for the first time， "We sure did △" All of a sudden，the boys laughed loudly. Then the boys set off together，clearing the walkways as friends. 

At the age of 73, Chen Shaoqi n from Beijing has shown the world how life should be lived.

Although she only had a middle school education, Chen began studying English at the age of 40 and passed a college entrance exam, making herself from a factory worker to a white- collar clerk in an international trade company. Chen continued to study art after retirement(退休) and finally became an art guide at the age of 67. Over the past five years, she has guided visitors at an art center for three days a week, totaling 3,500 hours.

From an old lady who knew nothing about modern art to a volunteer guide, Chen's hard work and love for learning have encouraged many people. She said that she must continue to learn. As a guide, she is able to attend professional training courses and has the chances to learn from artists and curators (馆长), which gives her encouragement to continue.

Chen has guided many exhibitions over the years, including those of famous artists like Zeng Fanzhi, Xu Bing, Qiu Zhijie and Pab lo Picasso. She believes that every tour is a beautiful journey and a new chance to learn and be moved. Her effort of learning and her ability to mix many subjects have made her an excellent guide. After turning73 this year, she believes that the width of one's life can be expanded(扩展) through self- improvement and learning.

Chen Shaoqi n is a best example that anyone can find their passion(热爱) and then learn, grow and share with others.

Most parents don't know what their teenage children are talking about when they are having a chat with their friends. This is also true when teenagers are using the language of texting to send messages. Words like 18r are easy to understand, but what about "POS"? I asked some parents what it means and only 28% got it right! It means that a parent is near and that they are watching what their child is doing.

Parents worry a lot and like to know what is happening in their children's lives at all times.This means they try to control as much of their children's lives as possible. However, they have no control over the language that their children use, so it is a useful way for children to keep parts of their life secret.

Parents also complain that they never have serious conversations with their teenage children. Teenagers are always busy phoning or texting their friends--even when parents are trying to talk to them. And there are times when teenagers aren't busy, but they just don't feel like having a serious chat with mum or dad!

One way to start real conversations is to make sure that the whole family eats together at mealtimes and that everyone has a chance to talk. Teenagers are trying tot find out who they are. They aren't adults yet, but they are learning how to act like big people.

This means that it is a good idea to speak to teenagers like they are adults and it helps to listen to their ideas and opinions carefully. When parents talk to their teenagers, some good advice is " Don't sound like your own parents!" In addition, parents who try to use the language of teenagers often sound very silly. And that's because most times when an adult tries to use "teen talk", the words are probably already unfashionable.

 Air pollution is one of the world's invisible killers. It causes seven million deaths a year, making it the largest single environmentá l health risk. In cities, air pollution is particularly serious. More than 80% of people live in the areas where pollution levels are beyond WHO limits.

 One well-established way to reduce air pollution is to plant trees, as their leaves catch and absorb(吸收) harmful particulates(微粒). But planting new trees is not always a good choice for lack of enough space. That's why the"City Tree", a mobile tree which removes pollutants from the air, has been becoming popular in cities around the world, including Oslo, Paris, Brussels and' Hong Kong.

 Each City Tree is just under 4 meters tall, nearly 3 meters wide and 2.19 meters deep, acting as a chair or a bench. A screen is included for information or advertising. Berlin-based Green City Organization explains that its invention has the environmental benefit of up to 275 actual trees.

 But the/ City Tree isn't. in fact, a tree at all— it's a moss culture(青苔培植). "Moss cultures have a much larger leaf surface area than any other plant. That means we can catch more pollutants," said Zhengliang Wu, co-founder of Green City Organization.

 The huger surfaces of moss in each tree can remove dust, NO2 and O3 gases from the air. It requires very little care: solar panels provide electricity, while rainwater is collected into a containér and then sent into the soil.

 To monitor the health of the moss, the City Tree has sensors which measure soil humidity (湿度), temperature and water quality"We also have pollution sensors inside the trees, which help monitor the local air quality and tell us how efficient the tree is," Wu said. Its creators say that each City Tree is able to absorb around250 grams of particulate matter a day and contributes to removing 480 tons of CO2 a year.
