I had a summer camp with my classmates last year. 

Early in the morning, we gathered(集合) at the bus station. After saying goodbye to our parents, we got on the buses. It took us more than two hours to arrive at the campground. 

We got off the buses cheerfully. Laughing and shouting, we jumped and ran all over the place. It was the first time for us to be away from the parents. Some of us started to feel homesick(想家的). However, when the night party and dances began, the homesickness was gone. 

The next day, everyone rushed to the boating class, hoping to be at the head of the others. At first, my friends and I worked hard, but the boat wouldn't listen to us and kept going round and round. Then the teacher taught us how to work together. After many tries, we did much better, 

Swimming class was my favourite. It was about the hottest time of a day and the best time to stay in the cool water. The swimming teacher was a funny man, and during the class he often made us laugh happily. 

During the week I learnt a lot of new things and made many new friends. I also learnt how to take care of myself.

There is no true blue pigment(色素)in nature. When light hits an object(物体), the object absorbs(吸收)some colors and reflects(反射)others. For example, plants look green because they reflect green light and absorb other colors. Blue light offers more energy than other colors. However, if a plant has blue leaves, according to scientists from the University at Adelaide in Australia, it must absorb(吸收) very small amounts of energy while reflecting high-energy blue light. This is not a good strategy(策略) for growth. 

Less than 10 percent of plants are blue. Plants make blue flowers by mixing pigments. For example, anthocyanins(花青素)can turn into a blue-likes color with a certain amount of acidity(酸度). Plants may make use of this unique color to attract pollinators(传粉者), such as bees.

Xiao Yang from Southern Methodist University in the US and his team analyzed (分析) the color of over 85,000 lakes based on the satellite photos taken from 2013 to 2020. The study has found that lakes in places with cooler summer average air temperatures-below 19℃-were more likely to be blue than lakes in places with warmer summers.

According to the research, the color of a lake is partly decides by what's in the water. Water molecules absorb the long wavelengths of sunlight, such as red and yellow, leaving behind the shorter ones presenting green and blue. Simply put, the cleaner the water, the bluer it looks.

Lakes serve as an important part of our environment, with their color being one of the oldest ways to determine the health of an ecosystem. Humans get their drinking water from lakes, streams and ground water. As they become greener, people may lose lots of clean water. Because of this, dealing with the water of such lakes becomes more expensive.

At the same time, blue lakes are also  a source of a place to help people stay peaceful. Some countries according to Catherine O' Reilly, even considered blue lakes as a spiritual(精神的) place. As these lakes disappear, they may feel upset.
