PEOPLE say that high school is the best time of your life. During these three years, there is more to a teenager's life than just homework and classes. As this year is flying by, it's a bit scary to r{#blank#}1{#/blank#} that high school is close to coming to an end. Have you done anything meaningful and memorable before you graduate.

These days, if you want to travel from New York to Beijing, the flight will take about 16 hours. You also have to wait at the airport, and sometimes you have to transfer onto a different airplane. If you add up all of the time, the trip will take at last 20 hours. But in the future, the trip from New York to Beijing might only take two hours.

Right now, a company is developing (开发) something called ET3—"evacuated tube (真空管) transport technology". Here's how it works. A tube goes all the way from New York to Beijing. The tube is only a few meters wide. Capsules (舱) move through the tube. Six people can sit in one capsule.

For international travel, the capsules can travel at about 6,500 kilometers per hour. Why can they travel so fast? Because there isn't any air in the ET3 tubes, the capsules can move at such a high speed. Also, the capsules are quite light. Each only weighs 183 kilograms. There are other advantages (优点) of ET3. Because it use electricity, it's quite clean. Also, it's a lot quieter than air planes and cars. Last, ET3 tube and capsules don't need much building materials.

Of course, there are still some problems about ET3. The biggest problem is that right now it would cost a lot to build ET3. To lower the cost, we will need much better technology.

However, it's still exciting to think of how ET3 will change the travel in the future. Who knows? Maybe someday you can have lunch in New York and dinner in Beijing.

In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution(污染). They join "Environment Clubs(环境俱乐部)". In an Environment Club, people work together to make our environment clean. Here are some things students often do.

●No-garbage(垃圾)lunches. How much do you throw away after lunch? Environment Clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will find the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school!

●No-car day. On a no car day, nobody comes to school in a car, not the students and not the teachers! Cars give pollution to our air, so remember: walk, jump, bike or run. Use your legs! It's lots of fun !

●Turn off the water! Did you know that some toilets can waste 20~40 m³ of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river! In Environment Clubs, students mend(修理) some toilets.
       We love our environment. Let's work together to make it clean。

 Pandas are in danger. There are only about1, 600 pandas in the wild today. Zoos and research centers are looking after about 340 pandas. Pandas do not have many babies, and baby pandas often die. The situation is getting very difficult. Scientists are doing a lot of research to help pandas produce more babies and help baby pandas live. 

 Pandas live in the forests and mountains of Southwest China. Each panda needs to eat a lot of bamboo every day. The bamboo forests are getting smaller, so pandas are losing their home. 

 In order to protect pandas in the wild, the government is setting up nature parks and developing other plans. The nature parks will be big and there will be more bamboo to feed the pandas. Pandas born in zoos may go back to live in the nature parks. 

 The World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF) wants to protect all animals. And it chose the panda to be its symbol. We do not want to lose tigers, elephants or any other animals, so the WWF is working hard to save them all. 

Starting a book club is easy—all you want is to love reading. Here's the way to start a book club.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}They could be friends, family or those you know through different activities, but they should all love to read. A small group of seven to ten people is usually the perfect size of a book club.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Pick a date (日期) and keep it. That way, members can easily plan for it. Send out emails a week before the meeting to give people a reminder (提醒). Set the length (长度) of the meeting time. Two hours is usually perfect.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Libraries, parks and restaurants—all make good meeting places. For many clubs, homes are the best place as you don't have to dress up, and noisy (吵闹的) public places can make talking hard.
