辽宁省辽宁省部分高中2023-2024学年高二下学期6月联考英语试题(音频暂未更新)

 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

David's parents left him forever in a car accident. He was brought up by his dear grandma, who was now in her eighties and in poor health. David was so excellent at his studies that he was admitted into his ideal college. He developed friendship with Christ when they were seated next to each other on the first college day. They were like brothers.

Whenever Christ was challenged with those difficult courses, David was always there to help Christ. Christ showed his thanks to David from the bottom of his heart, saying, "Without your help, I couldn't get on well with my studies. I really don't know how to repay your help." David responded, "We are good friends. It's natural for us to help each other."

It was the early morning of Saturday. David had a fever and couldn't get out of bed. Christ took good care of him. He cooked David some soup and then gave him some medicine. He thought a sound sleep would help David get better. David felt comforted with the care of his friend. Then he fell asleep.

David didn't know how long it had been before he woke up. He saw some food which was newly cooked on the table and there was also a note, which read, "Take the food and you will get better. I need to be away for several days. Take good care of yourself. Christ." He didn't detail David about what he was going to do. Later someone told David that Christ bought a bus ticket to David's hometown. David felt confused. But he thought that maybe Christ had something personal to attend to and it was not suitable to tell him.

On Monday, David got better and went to classes. Obviously, Christ was not there. He missed the classes.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

In the evening, Christ came back and meanwhile David received a call 'from his grandma, requesting whether Christ had returned to the college safely.

On learning about this, David suddenly realized the truth.

举一反三
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

My family moved from Taiwan to a small town in central Georgia, where my dad got a visa for his family and a job. I had just learned English, and from what little I could gather from my friends, Santa Claus would come down one's chimney and put toys in one's stocking on Christmas Eve! What a great country, I thought. After I looked up "stocking" in my Chinese-English dictionary, I knew what I had to do and always expected that day.

Finally, the big day came. On that wonderful night, after everyone went to bed, I sneaked out of bed, took my longest, cleanest knee sock and attached it to a nail already on the mantel (壁炉). Obviously, the previous owners of this house were no strangers to this Santa character. Gazing at the sock and imagining the delicately-packed gift in it, I couldn't help giggling (咯咯笑). For the first time, I found it hard to fall asleep.

And for the first time, I woke up before everyone else in the early morning. Then I headed straight to the fireplace and was even ready for what to say after seeing the gift. However, what happened next was the least thing I wanted to mention. On the nail was the empty and lonely sock. I was hit with the reality of the empty sock and the biggest lie ever told. I tried my best to hold back my tears but failed. Bursting into tears, I quickly took down the sock and stuffed it in the back of a drawer.

Every December since then, the topic of Christmas memories would unavoidably come up, and I would amuse my friends with my poor-little-me story. I had to make it as funny as possible, or else I would cry once again. I didn't know whether any of my audience ever noticed the sparkling tears hidden in my eyes.

How could I know that Santa was just late? Nine years ago, on Christmas Eve, I heard a knock on the door when I was watching TV. Unwillingly, I dragged my feet and opened the door.

Rain is pouring down today, which brings back sweet memories of our dog, Bambi. She-joined our family at the age of four months. Like all puppies, she was full of energy and wonder. Our boys described excitedly that she looked just like the young deer, Bambi, in the movie they had watched recently. The name fitted her personality perfectly.

Bambi also had all the fine physical characteristics of the German Shepherd. She was strong, yet gentle and shy. We were a young family with two growing, energetic boys, so she fitted right in with our lifestyle. Bambi loved the boys. She would play with them until they were completely tired.

When Bambi was almost two years old, a full-grown dog, she became quite protective of us. She never failed to watch the boys. If any stranger entered our yard, she'd watch him or her with sharp eyes and let out a low bark. Even though Bambi had this protective instinct (本能), she never hurt anyone. Nevertheless, she did manage to frighten (惊吓) away many welcome and unwelcome guests.

On one occasion, I had called a repairman to come to our home to fix the refrigerator. I was at work, and the boys were home with the babysitter. I told the repairman by phone that we had a dog, but it would be safe to enter the house because the babysitter would be there to meet him. However, when the repairman arrived, the babysitter and boys went outside. As he went close to our front door, Bambi was outside and she barked at him while she guarded the door. As long as the man attempted to move, Bambi would jump up and bark more fiercely (凶猛地). This man had never seen such a fierce dog before and was frightened too much. He had no idea whether to go away or scream for help.

Paragraph 1:

Luckily, the babysitter and boys returned from their walk at that time.

Paragraph 2

Though Bambi was so brave, there, was a side to her personality that didn't match her.

Opening presents carefully selected by our parents is our family tradition on Christmas morning, which always pushes the festive atmosphere to the climax. However, this year's Christmas seemed not as happy as usual.

It was Christmas Eve when my sister and I decided to open our presents before our mom got home from work. Though worried about ruining my mom's original plan, we still wanted to sneak a peek (偷看) at the gifts in advance, driven by a strong impulse of curiosity. Since my sister was older, and that put her in charge, she opened the first gift while I was ordered to stand guard at the big picture window in our front room. I was to report any suspicious activity or person, namely our mother, who can easily capture the details of life.

I was so excited that I could barely stand still. I also couldn't keep my eyes on the window very long. My head moved from the window to my sister and back to the window again. I felt like I was watching a Ping-Pong match.

"All right!" my sister shouted. She pulled out a jewelry box. "You know what that means, don't you?"

I jumped up and down. "Yeah, it's my turn!"

"No," she said. "It means that there must be some jewelry under here." I watched my sister rummaging (翻寻) through the presents under the tree, trying to find one she thought was small enough to be a necklace or earrings.

"Hey, that's not fair!" I complained, stomping my foot.

"Are you watching for Mom?" is all that she said. I couldn't do anything except stand guard as she opened present after present. Finally, when my sister's curiosity was satisfied and she had finished wrapping her last present back up, we traded places.

My heart hammered so hard that it felt like my chest was moving in and out. My sister reminded me to be careful so I wouldn't tear the paper, and to wrap the present back up the same way that I had found it.

After unwrapping a few presents, I found it faster to open one end of a present and peek inside. "Headphones! How can my mom know what I want! Without any hesitation, I pulled the headphones out of the box.

注意:1.续写词数应为 150 个左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Paragraph l:

I was about to put them on when my sister shouted, "Quick! Mom's coming!"

Christmas morning finally approached, and we were ready to open our presents again!_

Billy, a fourth-grade student at a primary school in Florida, was bullied for his DIY hand-drawn logo of the University of Tennessee(the UT), but this made students of the UT act in support and the UT even turned his drawing into an official T-shirt.

It all started at "College Colors Day" on August 30. On that day, the primary school students were invited to wear their favorite university's football team's colors. Billy, wore an orange T-shirt representing his favorite university, the UT. He took it one step further to draw his own UT logo with pen and paper and put it to his T-shirt. Billy excitedly showed his T-shirt to Laura, a fourth-grade teacher at the school. She was greatly impressed and praised him for his wonderful idea.

But after lunch, Billy came back to Laura's office, crying. Billy was upset and hurt because some girls at the lunch table had made fun of the hand-drawn logo on his T-shirt. Laura knew sometimes kids could say really cruel words. She knew although the logo was not well-drawn and of course not the most beautiful, Billy had tried his best to use the resources he had available to him to take part in College Colors Day in his own way.

In an effort to cheer him up, Laura wrote in a post on Facebook, a popular social media website, on Wednesday that one of her students was "SO EXCITED" to show her his orange T-shirt pinned with a hand-drawn "UT" logo, but was made fun of. Laura wrote that she was planning to buy him an official UT T-shirt to make it a little extra special for Billy and ended the post by asking if any of her Facebook friends had any connections to the UT. What happened next made her shocked.

注意:1)续写词数应为150左右;2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

Her post spread rapidly on Facebook.

When receiving and opening the surprise box, Billy couldn't believe his eyes.

Jane was still sleeping when the phone rang in the living room. She opened her sleepy eyes and looked at the clock on the table. It was already nine o'clock! Although Jane was still very sleepy, she knew she had to get up because her mother was working in her office and she couldn't expect her younger brother Tom, who was sleeping like a pig, to answer the Phone. She quickly put on a coat and ran to the living room. When she picked up the receiver, on the other end came the warm greeting, "Good morning!"

It was from her father, who was a seaman and rarely came back. Suddenly, Jane's sleepiness disappeared.

Born in a not-so-rich family, Jane and Tom felt the stress of life, but they were happy to enjoy the family atmosphere. At school, they were straight-A students and took part in various after-school activities. They were the pride of the family.

"Good morning, Dad. Why do you call us so early on the weekend?" Jane said and pretended to be annoyed. "Tom and I have been very nice recently." "My dear, today is your mother's birthday, and I have ordered a cake online and it will be sent to our home late in the afternoon. Do remember to take the cake. It is my surprise for your mother."

Hearing her father's words, Jane felt a little ashamed. How could she forget her mother's birthday?!

While she was chatting with her father, Jane looked around the room and saw a lot of dirty clothes on the sofa. The floor hadn't been cleaned for a few days since her mother had to work all this week.

She looked at the clock again and was sure that she still had enough time to prepare a surprise for her mother.

"Well, Dad, now I'm going to wake Tom up. We will give Mum a surprise, too!" Jane said and hung up the telephone.

注意:

1)续写词数应为150个左右;

2)请按如下格式在答题卡相应位置作答。

Jane hurried to Tom's room and shared her plan with him.

"Happy birthday, Mum!" Jane and Tom shouted when their mother opened the door.

When danger is coming, firefighters are heroes who put their lives at risk to keep everyone safe. But in calmer moments, they can also go the extra mile for someone with something so simple yet impactful.

Many fall in love with firefighting as a child by riding a truck and visiting a fire station. Whether he does or doesn't grow up to become a firefighter, he will know he is loved and accepted the way he is. This is especially heartwarming when children are at the receiving end of firefighters' kindness.

Now, one firefighter went out of his way to make sure that a kid didn't feel left out when his team spent a day with some children from a kindergarten.

These children spent the day in getting a close look at the fire station and the work of firefighters. First, led by firefighters, they paid a visit to the fire station, which made them feel excited. Later, in order to make the children have a more real experience, the station decided to let the young tourists wear red fireman helmets(头盔).

When they wore the red fireman helmets, everyone was so delighted and cheers broke out. But one child was standing with low spirits and didn't wear a red helmet. It seemed that the child wasn't welcome, which may influence the child's confidence. That made the firefighters surprised.

"One child didn't wear a red fireman helmet. No enough helmets?" One of the firefighters asked the children's teacher.

"No. Well, his hair was in a high ponytail(马尾辫), preventing him from putting his helmet on. And he likes the high ponytail very much and doesn't want to break it," the teacher replied.

"I see. Maybe we can do something, can we mark the width of the child's ponytail and cut a hole in the tiny helmet to make sure his hair fit s through the hole?" the firefighter said.

Hearing that, the teacher thought it was a good idea.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

With the help of the teacher, the firefighter started carrying out his plan.

The firefighter handed the brand new tiny helm et to the child.
