 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

When danger is coming, firefighters are heroes who put their lives at risk to keep everyone safe. But in calmer moments, they can also go the extra mile for someone with something so simple yet impactful.

Many fall in love with firefighting as a child by riding a truck and visiting a fire station. Whether he does or doesn't grow up to become a firefighter, he will know he is loved and accepted the way he is. This is especially heartwarming when children are at the receiving end of firefighters' kindness.

Now, one firefighter went out of his way to make sure that a kid didn't feel left out when his team spent a day with some children from a kindergarten.

These children spent the day in getting a close look at the fire station and the work of firefighters. First, led by firefighters, they paid a visit to the fire station, which made them feel excited. Later, in order to make the children have a more real experience, the station decided to let the young tourists wear red fireman helmets(头盔).

When they wore the red fireman helmets, everyone was so delighted and cheers broke out. But one child was standing with low spirits and didn't wear a red helmet. It seemed that the child wasn't welcome, which may influence the child's confidence. That made the firefighters surprised.

"One child didn't wear a red fireman helmet. No enough helmets?" One of the firefighters asked the children's teacher.

"No. Well, his hair was in a high ponytail(马尾辫), preventing him from putting his helmet on. And he likes the high ponytail very much and doesn't want to break it," the teacher replied.

"I see. Maybe we can do something, can we mark the width of the child's ponytail and cut a hole in the tiny helmet to make sure his hair fit s through the hole?" the firefighter said.

Hearing that, the teacher thought it was a good idea.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

With the help of the teacher, the firefighter started carrying out his plan.

The firefighter handed the brand new tiny helm et to the child.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

Jack, a clerk at the local bank, was wandering alone on the street. It was a cold, silent winter night. His mind was on his wife Linda, who had been in a car accident two months ago and was now lying in a hospital bed, waiting for more money for her operation. Jack had sold everything he had, and he had tried his best to borrow money from all the people and banks he could. But the real world is cruel.

A large amount of money was still needed. To Jack, it would mean a great deal of suffering to see his wife die without any help. "I have only one option left, "Jack said to himself. Then he went to the bank, his workplace, again. For several days, he observed the bank and planned a theft.

The next day, he went to work as usual. Everything seemed normal: he joked with his workmates and helped his clients as he always did. But no one noticed that he had brought a bigger suitcase to work, instead of the small one he always carried. At 5:00 pm, the bank closed, and the clerks and the guards had all gone home. However, at that moment, Jack was in the bathroom, and the guards didn't notice him, of course. When the noises coming from the street were replaced by silence and everything turned dark, Jack came out from the bathroom. He first cut the lines of the alarms and monitors with tools from his new suitcase.

He was all too familiar with the equipment since he had been working there for 8 years and had been studying the security system for the past 30 days. Using a special key and some other tools, he then easily opened the doors of the safes. The bank's security system wasn't very good, which allowed Jack to take a lot of money. Several minutes later, Jack left the bank with a heavy bag filled with money.

When most people look back on middle school, they remember their best friends, and so do I. But what I remember may be a little different. Let me explain.

My heart was pounding when I climbed onto the school bus on the first day of middle school. As I was looking for a seat, my eyes landed on two girls sitting together. They smiled at me and pointed to the seat next to theirs.

I sat down and we chatted. They were Heather and Jessica. It turned out that we had the first period together and we became friends. We ate lunch together, hung out in the park and played games in Jessica's room on weekends. But our friendship wasn't without its faults. Jessica had an "I'm-the-boss" personality. She always had to be in charge.

One time, the three of us went to the mall. I wanted to go to Abercrombie. But Jessica rolled her eyes and told me to go to Rave. Not wanting to argue, I followed her.

This skirt would look great on you. "Jessica exclaimed. "Try it on!"

"I don't like it," I said.

Jessica gave me a death glare so I made my way to the dressing room.

I ended up spending fifty dollars on a skirt that I didn't even like, just to make Jessica happy. Throughout the following year, this was how it was. If Jessica went somewhere, Heather and I went there too. I found I was behaving as a pretended version of myself just to please Jessica and to keep her from being mad at me.

Then, summer came. Jessica invited Heather and me to go to Cape Cod with her. I decided to go to Florida with another friend instead, so Jessica got angry. I went to Florida and didn't hear from her.

My mom only had one eye. I hated her. She was such an embarrassment. She ran a small shop at a flea market and collected old clothes and some other things to sell for the money we needed.

Once during elementary school, it was a field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed and wondered how she could do this to me? I was so angry with my mom and wished that she would just disappear from this world. So I said to my mom, "Why don't you have the other eye?! If you're only gonna make me a laughingstock!" My mom did not respond, I guess I felt. a little. bad, but at the same time, I felt so good to have said what I wanted to say.

I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty. I told myself that I would become successful in the near future, so I studied very hard. Later I got accepted by the Seoul University. I left my mother and came to Seoul to study. Then I got married there. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. I enjoy the life in Seoul because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom and my past.

This kind of happiness was getting bigger and bigger, until one day someone knocked at my door. It was my mom! And still with her one eye! It felt as if the whole sky was falling apart on me. My little girl ran away, scared of my mom's eye. I screamed at her, "Who are you? I don't know you! How dare you come to my house and scare my daughter!" To this, my mom quietly answered, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. After the reunion, I went down to my old house, just out of curiosity. There I found my mom fallen on the cold ground. I did not shed a single tear.

Then a piece of paper in her hand came into my eyes. It was a letter to me.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

My son,

I think my life has been long enough now, and I won't visit Seoul anymore.

You see, when you were very little, you got into an accident and lost your eye.

 书面表达

In the month of October each year, a festive air envelops our community as we host a Halloween costume competition. Annually, my neighbor Ollie and I engage in a spirited dash to the proclamation board situated within the park to discover the designated motif for the event. In one memorable instance, the theme was "Adorn yourself as the character from a beloved literary work." In another, it was "Embody something that incites dread." However, the year in question presented us with a rather ambiguous directive.

"Be inventive?" I inquired aloud, scrutinizing the proclamation board. "That scarcely qualifies as a theme, does it?"

Ollie alighted from his skateboard to examine the board more intently. "You've hit the nail on the head," he concurred. "I believe the 'Superheroes' theme was my all-time favorite. I was so enamored with my Super-Force Flying Eagles attire that I've preserved it in my wardrobe for several years!"

"My favored theme was 'Agricultural Creatures,'" I chortled. "Do you recall your adamant insistence on portraying a Stegosaurus?"

"When I was but five years of age, dinosaurs captivated my every thought," Ollie chuckled. "I would have been thrilled to envision a Stegosaurus mingling with the bovine herd in a pasture."

"Now that's the kind of imaginative vigor we require for this challenge!" I declared. "Perhaps, since our aspirations are not yet clearly defined, we ought to initiate our preparations by selecting some intriguing materials for our costumes."

"Eureka!" Ollie proclaimed, gathering an assortment of fallen foliage.

"Indeed?" I responded, taken aback. "You intend to construct an entire costume from leaves?"

"Why not?" he retorted, collecting more foliage. "They're utterly gratuitous, and I can assure you, no one will don a tree costume as magnificent as the one I'm envisioning."

"Do you mean, a tree as magnificent as ours?" I offered with a smile.

"Ah, firstly, that grammatical construction doesn't quite ring true," Ollie remarked. "And secondly, absolutely not! Conceive your own original concepts."

"Ah, come now," I implored. "You should feel honored that I hold your idea in such high esteem. Moreover, I've just devised the perfect method for fabricating branches."

Ultimately, after some deliberation, Ollie acquiesced to the idea.

We ended up filling two jumbo bags with different kinds of leaves.

 任务型读写

In a quaint hamlet, there resides an elderly gentleman by the name of Mr. Benson. He dwells in solitude, marked by a prominent facial scar that lends him an air of intimidation. Consequently, the townsfolk seldom engage in conversation with him, and he is often left to manage the arduous task of carrying his belongings up the steep stairs to his residence unaided.

Mr. Benson is devoid of companionship and has never been wed. However, a change is afoot in the community when a new family, the Clarences, relocates to the area. This family is composed of the amiable Mr. and Mrs. Clarence, along with their offspring, Amanda and David. They settle into the very edifice that houses Mr. Benson.

The existing residents of the building extend a warm welcome to the newcomers, greeting Amanda and David with kindness, but they caution them against interacting with Mr. Benson. They describe him as a formidable elder with an enigmatic scar, devoid of social connections.

Despite this, the Clarences find such admonitions to be nonsensical. Whenever they encounter Mr. Benson in the corridors of their building or on the street, they greet him with a friendly smile and inquire about his well-being.

Mr. Benson is immensely pleased by their approach. He extends an open invitation to the Clarences to visit his home, even offering Amanda and David some delectable cupcakes as a token of his appreciation.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence frequently assist Mr. Benson with his shopping, and the children, Amanda and David, enjoy spending time with him, sipping tea and listening to his enchanting tales. It turns out that Mr. Benson was once a renowned chef, capable of crafting the most exquisite desserts, as per Amanda's discerning palate.

One evening, the residents of the building are startled by the sounds of merriment, clinking crockery, and the clatter of cutlery emanating from Mr. Benson's apartment. This unusual commotion piques their curiosity, as it suggests a convivial gathering. The neighbors are left to ponder why they have not been included in what appears to be a delightful repast.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右。

The next day, Mrs. Clarence talks to her neighbors.

……

Soon, they all enjoy Mr. Benson's delicious cakes every weekend at their dinners.
