Imagine you are taking a walk on thebeautiful beach. Just then, your feet step over something and you hear a crack(噼啪声) —an emptyplastic bottle. Things like this are happening more often because of searubbish.

    Studies show that 80% of all the waste isfrom the land. The waste is mainly plastics (塑料制品)which are really hard to degrade (降解). So the rubbishwill remain there for a long time. Some of the pollution is causedaccidentally. For example, about 10,000 product-filled boxes are lost at seaevery year from business ships. Sometimes people just throw things into thewater from boats or land. Many large rubbish areas are formed in the NorthPacific Ocean.

    Thankfully, the situation isn't ignored (忽视). Groups like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)are taking action to help clean the sea. Since 2006,76 projects have clearedout 3,814 metric tons (公吨) of rubbish from the sea.Methods of rubbish cleaning include using machines to remove (移除) the waste away from the surface of sea water. Besides, specialnets are set by the mouths of rivers to stop the rubbish before it reaches thesea. If everyone does his part, sea rubbish seems like a problem that can besolved.

Do you know Machu Picchu in Peru? Maybe you never hear about it and think there is nothing great with it. But it is famous all over the world, just like the Great Wall in our country.

Machu Picchu is over 600 years old, but people found it very late, in 

1911. That's why people also call it"The Lost City of the Incas". Machu Piechu lies on the highland of a mountain, at over 2,400 metres above sea level. It is about 5 km² and has about 200 different old but great buildings. There are three areas(地区) in Machu Picchu and every one of them has different uses. The slopes(斜坡)of the mountain work as the farming areas. The lower (更低的) areas are the buildings for people to live in. The top of the mountain is for religious activities(宗教活动). From there, you can enjoy all of Machu Picchu.

Do you know how many bones are there in your body? When you were a baby you had more than 300 bones, and now you have just over 200 bones. The number reduces because some bones join together as you g{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Your wonderful bones work together to protect you and support your body. 

Many uses

Many bones protect your body. For example, the bone that makes up your head is called the skull. The skull surrounds your brain and protects it. 

Other bones are used to support the body. The bones in your feet allow you to w{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, and stand on your tiptoes. Your hands and feet have more than half of the bones in your body!

Biggest Bone

The longest and strongest bone in your body is in your leg. It is called the femur and it goes from your hip (臀部) to your knee. It is a very i{#blank#}3{#/blank#} bone because it carries all of your weight and helps you move from place to place. 

Smallest Bone

Would you believe the smallest bone in your body is in your ear? It is about the s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} of a grain (粒) of rice and is called the stirrup. When sound waves come into your ear the stirrup shakes back and forth, allowing the sound waves to reach your brain. When the waves reach your brain you h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} the sound. 

"Funny" Bone

Hah! The funny bone isn't really a bone at all. It is a{#blank#}6{#/blank#} a nerve (神经). When you hit the nerve that is near your elbow (肘部), it really hurts or tingles. The funny bone probably got its n{#blank#}7{#/blank#} from the bone that is above your elbow. That bone is called the humerus, which sounds like the word "humorous", meaning "funny". 

I have always been interested in the animal world. Recently, I read a book about animals called A Lion's Travelling. Chinese writer Shen Shixi wrote it.

The book tells the story of five lions. After they are made to leave their home, one is hurt by a giraffe. Another is killed by a hunter. The third one dies during a fight for water. The fourth lion dies in the river. Only the youngest one, named Red Ribbon, is still alive. After going through many difficulties, he finally becomes the lion king.

The story shows the love and care between friends, the life and death faced by brothers, the determination (决心) to deal with challenges. The fact that the young lion finally becomes the king teaches me a great lesson: Those experiences of going through difficulties will make us stronger. Everyone will face lots of difficulties during their lifetime. We should learn to stay strong and keep finding our better selves.

The book is full of something exciting about the life of lions. Together with lovely pictures, it gives readers a wonderful experience. If you want to read the great story and learn a lot about the animals in the real world, choose it!
